The Milestone thread...Brag here.

If you count milestones by the hundreds, I have a few: I crossed over 300 followers this week, 700K views, and 10K votes on my 48 stories. I am pleased as punch over that and also pleased only a couple of commenters outright hated two of my stories.

No idea what an iggy is - except I get the impression that it's not good.

So jealous now. Absolutely green with envy.

But it's a good color for me, right?

Milestone? I've not been keeping careful count, but when I tried writing an incest story I got 50 new followers.

Since then I've acquired about 50 new followers, yet still have the same number I had then, which presumably means my various tales of disabled kinky lesbianism and polyamorous snarky bisexuals have scared all the incest readers away. Ah, well.

Just got my biggest score change in a sweep - my Nude Day story went from 4 to 4.65 overnight, and from 29 to 27 votes. Good to see, as it was a nice story, if not really fitting any category and not edited much.

Sort of a negative milestone, but when my new story goes live tonight, it will end my longest gap between publications since I started here.
I just posted my first story in well over a year -- far and away the longest gap between my submissions. It's also my 75th submission that wasn't rejected, so, woot.

I figured I had 30 "good" stories in me when I started doing this. Not "great" and certainly not "Hall of Fame" or anything. The fact that I've managed to submit 75 stories / chapters probably means at least 45 are utter crap. Ah, well. At least some readers still enjoy my crap stories. 😘

Oh, yeah milestones....let's rein it in folks. Wait...shiny!

Okay...

Good week for me. 10th contest placing, hit 20k followers and Home is Where the Heart is received comment #600

But the best-and not lit related, but it all started here. In the smashwords sales e-mail that went out to two million people, I'm mentioned in the "Look who's participating" because I'm the fifth most followed author there. On smashwords that has had 192k people post a book there, I'm number five for being bookmarked.

NEVER saw that coming when I put my first e-book up in 2011.

So I shouldn't say that earlier today my story That's what friends are for slid up into the #8 spot on the all time most faves stories list?

Okay, I'll wait.

Okay, so...its also the highest faved non I/T story on the site.

I know, we liked you better when you were away.

Here's a little brag: I just finished part 3 of my latest work, and I really feel that each time I write a story it's better than the one before.

In this last one I've really struggled with CTP, but as I close the page on the final edit, I feel it's as smooth as it could be. That's rewarding.

Pornville. I like it.
Someone on Twitter keeps pitching me his Taboo Land idea.

I don't know how to make this not a humblebrag so I might as well go full brag: all of my stories have the red H.

I guess there was a sweep at some point in the last month. I check my ratings obsessively when I publish a new story, enough to kind of remember them a month later. I think all of my stories now have fewer ratings but higher averages.

It's actually kind of...scary? I feel like I have something to lose now. My first thought was, boy, I'll be sad if my next story breaks the "streak".

I know that's a counter-productive mindset. I'm obviously not going to stop publishing in order to preserve this moment. But there's always the temptation to tweak and polish a little more.

It's important to remember "all my stories" is only four. Still rookie numbers, after all. For a new writer the benefits of trying new things and getting that feedback will far outweigh the value of additional polish.

(I hope this doesn't start a derail on the merits of the red H. There are other threads for that.)

My first four stories got the coveted Red H as well.

To me, that's nothing to sneeze at as a new writer.

I don't wanna derail things either, but to me the Red H means most people liked your story.

And that's a great feeling for any writer, old or new.

It will fall off of course, so be prepared.

But this is Brag thread. So brag away. Well done.

On this site each story builds off the others. Each helps build a base. So, if your first four have good scores and H's that is setting you up to continue the trend.

Speaking of milestones, I was quite shocked by passing 100 followers today. A month ago (and after 3 years), it was 68. The Nude Day stories seem to have been appreciated, and is drawing attention to the story list where folks are reading and favoriting older works. Success begets success, I suppose.

I was hesitant to bring this up, because bragging can be a bad look, but hell, if there's ever a time for it, this is it.

I just sold 2 commissioned stories to two separate customers, and one of the buyers has already signed on for a second chapter. 😳🥳

I never would have believed that people would be willing to pay that much for my - mediocre - writing, but both customers seem thrilled, and I'm thrilled that they like the products.

Both of them were fine with me publishing the stories that I wrote for them, so y'all should be seeing the finish products before too long.

Congrats, hon! 🥳

There's been a sweep, and both my latest stories are up over 4.9 - I feel kind of guilty, because it means I'm taking space from better authors like @JCMcNeilly whose work I love so much.

But hey, I'll enjoy the glow until the targetted downvoting starts again :)

As someone who is unfortunately infamous for changing main female characters’ names in the middle of a story, my milestone is that I finally did it to my main male protagonist!
Yay me!
Also, because I need to brag a little I am now 87 of 88 entries with the red H. Recently, one of the two chapters that I categorized as Loving Wives (before I got a clue) crept up to 4.51, after more than a year on the site. That really felt like a milestone, to eek out an H in Loving Wives…
