With scratches from walking through them and pictures of them, I can now positively attest there are indeed forests in northern Nevada – Besides, the Federal Government says it’s a forest, and we know they can be believed. :p

If you look closely in the green circle, you can see one of the forests of northern Nevada (FONN). This FONN is in the foothills of the mountains we were hunting in.

welcome backl

I hope you had a great trip and are all rested up.
I think probably now you need a rest to get over the trip though.

hmmmm

Wow you are sure there is a forsest in that circle?
How many trees does it take to make a forest? lol

This is the Bumblebee Arms, the portable apartment complex where we spent the week, nestled in one of the forests of northern Nevada.

It sleeps 8-10 but my hunting partner misread the box and though it was an 8’ x10’ tent. It’s actually a 10’ x 20’ three room tent – very nice and roomy, but hard to keep warm when the temperature drops to about 15 F overnight.

I got back Sunday Night, and have rested up and sorted pictures so now I'm ready to start posting again. I'm still bumming computer time from my hunting partner until I head back toLas Vegas next Saturday.

---
The campground was only at about 6500 feet altitude, and most of the FONN are higher up, like this one across the road and above the camp. (The building in the foreground is the sanitary facilities for the campground – not a comfortable place to visit in the middle of the night unless you can visit after some other poor soul has warmed the seat up. :p)

This is another FONN about a thousand feet higher in elevation and four miles from camp.

Getting to the FONN involves driving over some very rough “roads” through the sagebrush and more than a few “redneck pinstripes” on your vehicle. This is my buddy’s new GMC truck.

wow

Very nice looking area. Did you have horses or quads or just lots of excercise?

Watching a campfire was no substitute for Literotica, but it’s all the entertainment available when you’re “roughing it.”

There are also many Mule deer in the FONN -- although fewer than there were two weeks ago. This one is moving into my freezer when the butcher is through with it Friday. Four others are bound for the freezers of other members of the group I hunted with. Most of the other hunters we encountered were also successful

And so...

The Mighty Hunter drives off into the sunset, thus ending a successful hunting trip

Dang Harold!....did you used to be a Girl Scout?...that was one fine camping getup you had goin on. :D

The stupid picture didn't attach and that's when the connection went wonky and I couldn't get anything to refresh.

Just 4WDs to get us to the general area, and stomping through the brush on foot once we were where the deer were.

We filled five doe tags out of a party of six. We probably would have filled all six if one hunter had more time to hunt -- he had to go home early because of limited vacation time.

Actually, I was a Boy Scout (many moons ago) but the camping equipment belongs to my hunting buddy, the camp cook, and a couple other members of the hunting party. I have enough to get by, but nothing like the style they camp in.

Damn. You shot Bambi. Thumper's gonna cry. I hope April will be there for him.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Yep, there is a stand of Aspen or Birch along a stream in that circle. It's probably five miles away from the road I was on, and maybe 600 yards by 100 yards in extent.

In northern Nevada, more than five trees together is a forest. :p (At least that's what we took pictures of.)

Actually, I had doe tags, so if you cried when Bambi's mother died, then blame me.

welcome back WH!

glad you had a safe and successful hunt.
the pics were great. thanks for posting them.

Welcome back, o weird one!

The BB just isn't the same without you. The pics were great. Having never been to Nevada, I usually just picture it as a lot of sand with oases of neon, so it was good to see the FONN.

Glad to have you back. :)

No eye Deer

Yeah I know

Good to see you back WH, but next time you go hunting please at least go in a real forest!
