My [used to be] hot wife seems to be going thru menopause @ 47 yrs and her sex drive has dropped by 80%, plus it brings out the bitch in her most of the day:confused:. I am trying to be patient and understanding, but my hormones and sex drive @ 70 are begging for something warm wet and most of all..............willing.
How long will this last? and how do we [both] deal with it?
Are there any drugs/supplements that can help?

Can't help you there. Both my late wives loved sex until the day they died. The first from cancer at 58 and the second from a heart attack at 64.

My wife has gone through menopause accelerated by a hysterectomy.

If she is just starting, it may change. Can't say my wife's sex drive is any different than before.

not just changes in sex drive, but mood swings, irritations, being bitchy etc............just like her period but it has lasted more than 6 months. Any women out there care to comment?

The mood swing thing is normal, the closest thing I could relate it to is when our daughter went through puberty. She had huge swings.

The hot flashes really get to my wife at times, in her case though menopause was just starting when she had her surgery which caused her to jump immediately into full blown menopause.

My wife didn't have the mood problem, but her sex drive did drop a bit. She still enjoys sex, just not as often.

you need to talk to her about seeing her doctor. and yes, there are things that can ease this transition. menopause means her hormones are in a state of change and she may benefit from hormone replacement therapy (HRT). she doesnt WANT to be pissed off. she just is because of her physical state. for both your sakes, don't engage in argument and when she is having a good day, try to talk to her about seeing the doctor without the talk being about blame. best of luck to both of you and remember..menopause isnt forever

I fully sympathise - my wife has been going through this for something like 4 years. Sex is something that happens every 2 or 3 months.

She's stressed and negative most of the time.

On the rare occasions I get her to relax and she's also horny, the sex we have is every bit as intense as when we were in our 20s. It's the only thing keeping me going...

Remember...she knows this is happening and it is probably just as frustrating to her. Empathy.

Finally, sympathetic and understanding woman replies............I have been thinking the same thing, but one major problem is that she refuses to go to the Dr. Mostly because of lack of time as our lives are quite full and I've been dealing with my own health issues and feeling that maybe I've opened a can of worms with my battle with the big 'C'. I'm remission for now but she has heard me complain about the 'Dr chase' and is afraid of getting caught up in her self. She even refuses to do the routine woman's check up.
@ 70 yrs [and many women] I have learned the importance of timing when it comes to discussing sensitive issues like that, but so far no cooperation.

wife had forced menopause in 2008, ovaries removed. the hot flashes and night sweats were unbearable. the mood swings weren't too bad. in 2012, she lost her appetite for sex. finally, this past summer, our Dr's PA gave her hormone pills. they have helped everywhere but the sex appetite. I think there is more to that problem than just hormones

There are many things she could try, HRT, patches, pessaries, natural supplements and sometimes taking SSRI's to help with mood swings. My sex drive hasn't diminished and I amas sexually active as ever. There is light ay the end of the tunnel if only women would ask for help. Hope you get it sorted x
