So about 6 months ago, I had the most amazing burger at a local restaurant. They called it the Maryland Burger. It was basically a burger topped with a mini crabcake (obviously flattened a bit) and melted provolone cheese.

Yesterday I decided to try making them on my own.

I purchased top quality ground sirloin burgers and crabcakes from the seafood department of my local independent grocery store.

I baked the crabcakes myself after dividing them in half and re-forming them a bit. Pennman grilled the burgers to perfection.

As soon as the burgers came off the grill, we topped them with the baked crabcakes and the provolone, and then popped them in the oven for just a few minutes to melt the provolone.

The delectable creation was then served on a kaiser roll.

Wow. Just wow. It was even better than the one at the restaurant. It's the best burger I've had in my life.

So for those of you that love seafood and beef, you HAVE to give this a try.

Anyone else have good recipes that they have created on their own or duplicated from a favorite restaurant that you would like to share with me?

Alternatively, we could talk about pretty much anything else.

There is a place not far from me that makes Bison burgers...

They have their own Bison range up in Maine and ship the meat down weekly. They are very, very good burgers.

Philly, you should have posted that in Tortoise's Foodgasms thread. I swear I just had one. That sounds delicious. I have grilled Fillet Mignon and topped with lump crab meat, hollandaise and crossed a couple of asparagus spears over it. Steak Oscar. Yummo.

Sounds delicious. I'd never have thought to combine seafood and beef to make a burger. Now I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.

I've never tried Bison, but I definitely would like to.

It is definitely foodgasm worthy.

Definitely use really good meat for the burgers, though. That makes a world of difference. Ground angus sirloin is the way to go for me.

It was amazing. Very filling, but amazing. My side dishes were virtually neglected, but that was OK. ;)

But what for condiments!?!?!?!

Seriously!

I NEVER joke when it comes to burgers

Condiments? You would defile such a creation with condiments?

I give you sirloin and prime crabcake topped with provolone and you're gonna pour KETCHUP on it????

No condiments. It's a juicy, heavenly burger, cooked to perfection. The flavors need no disguising or accentuating as the case may be. :p

Ketchup is for back yard burgers not something like that.

Some lemon juice or tartar sauce might be ok though.

I beg of you.... "try it before you defile it!"

Try a Chicken Chesapeake sandwich sometime. It's a grilled chicken breast topped with crab dip and cheese, on a roll.

That's good eatin'!

theres a buffalo farm near my parents house and the meat is sweet and tender.
It has less fat than regular meat which means it has less cooking time

KETCHUP!

Do you ake me for a Phillistine madam!?

But something... it just seems as though it would need something...

I first pondered the idea of a sweet corn relish... awesome with the crabcake...then decided it wouldnt play well off the sirloin ... yet anything that compliments/accentuates the beef does not pair well with the crab... yet it CRYS OUT!

Why have you foisted this dillema upon me :(

I love a remoulade sauce with crabcakes, just a touch on the hot side, just a touch. I also have used a Vadalia Onion Relish too.

I love the sound of your creation, Philly, and Zen's with chicken - I can almost taste them now.

season the beef with old bay, and put lump crab meat inside the center of the burger, then grill.

It's always warm enough to grill.

It needs nothing. It is perfection in and of itself.

The crabcake will already be seasoned by it's very nature.

You're cute when you're mad.

Is there anyone who doesn't season their burgers will old bay before grilling them?

But the crabmeat tastes just as well on top of the burger and is much easier to cook that way.

It is supposed to be -5* tomorrow and anywhere between 8-15 more inches of snow.
