A notice is hung up in the History and Anthropology section at a college for a working summer working to catalog the antiques in a mansion which includes room and board for the whole summer and a .5 credit for elective.

Six or seven characters accept the job and go to the huge Manon and begin working on the project, but odd things begin to happen. The house is haunted, not only by a ghost or three, but also by a vampire and his crazed henchman.

Lots of fun things happen, some folks die, and it's run sorta like a survivor contest because at the end of the story the winner becomes the new heir to the house.

Below is some of the details for the thread:

This estate sits on sixty plus acres surrounded by eighty plus acres of conserved woodland. The 17,862 sq. ft. home has been renovated and updated.This house has eleven bedrooms, fifteen fireplaces, staff quarters, original bowling alley, wine cellar and master suite with his/hers baths and sitting rooms. The property also includes a Tudor style coach house, tennis house with indoor and outdoor Har-Tru courts, twelve stall stable, pool and riding trails.

Skills: Skilled tennis player. Wicked backhand and ferocious serve. Also a gifted archer and equestrian. Quick for shorter distances (100 meter, 200 meter). Slightly above average for swimming. Medium strength for physical sports.


Brief History:

Oliver, or Oli, grew up in the English country-side. He was home-schooled until he was 15, where he enrolled at a local British private school. He found himself singled out by bullies for being the "new kid," so to gain friends and a little belonging, he began trying out for sports teams. He found he was too lithe for football, so he picked tennis for his fall sport, showing natural talent and court awareness. He swam during the winter season, easily placing 3rd and 4th place in many events. The only event he shower a little ability in was the 100 meter dash, where he normally placed 2nd, and only occassionally did he come in 1st. In the spring he found himself running track, placing high in the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash, and the 400 x 4 relay. In the summer's he could be found in his parents' country club, competing in archery and equestrian (horseback riding) contests.

Bookwise, Oli was a smart cookie. He never found his grade dropping below a B+ and quite often the grade sheet he returned to his parents was nothing but A's. This made him an easy candidate for many Universities, both in England and across the pond in America.

His freshman year at school was mostly uneventful, having achieved a scholarship to play tennis. He was named to a list of the top players for his division and won a few awards along the way. His sophmore year merely mirrored his freshman year, being closer to the top of that list of players this time around.

And so comes the summer between sophmore and junior years...

Miles Davis, History Professor

Build: Athletic-slender, but with the ropey look some athletic men get when they get older
Field of Study: History Professor teaches mostly introduction classes.

Miles got teased a lot as a child because he had the same name as a famous musican, so he shunned music and went into sports and via that won a scholarship to become a teacher. (He's got a soft spot for scholarship students.)

Miles also has a side business that he runs appraising and he's the one that set up the job for the students and will give them their grade. It works out wonderfully for everyone concerned, in his opinion. He has a domestic parter, Terry, who you never met but he speaks of fondly.

Miles is your boss.

Mrs. Beck, housekeeper

Name: Elsbeth Beck
Gender: Female
Age: 58
Height: 5'3"
Eye color: Hazel
Hair color: Iron grey and packed into a bun that defies gravity
Build: Stout and strong

Mrs. Beck is a force of nature, she notices everything, is deadly quiet and frequently firm with the staff and guests. She also has a weakness for bon bon's and General Hospital. Always polite a person can find themselves fired and not realize it til a half hour later.

She runs a staff of four, during the summer:

Mary Deems-the cook doesn't set up lavish meals during the summer, but rather a buffet at breakfast and dinner (6 am and 6pm) for the staff and students, the rest of the time she works in the kitchen garden and can be found there when not in her room or the kitchen.

Bette and Dasiy Forth-the two maids are young, poor and shyly impressed with the students and will not seek to engage them, as it wouldn't be proper, but will respond to being flirted with.

Adam Winters-Grounds man and driver for the summer. Adam is darkly brooding and handsome in a hardbitten way, with a slightly broken nose and large hands with dirt under the nails. Bette and Dasiy call him "Heathcliff" behind his back.

The rest of the regular staff are with the owner of the house, Mrs. Sondra Dane, in Italy for the summer or off until the fall when she intends to return.

The last person who will be frequently around is the young lawyer

Mike Peterson, reedy and thin, with suits that cost thousands and never fit he will be checking in on the staff and students every weekend at the very least.
