I don't see the point of opening old wounds after the healing has been so complete. You could choose to focus upon the close relationship between Japan and America. I don't think the horrors of the war need to be brought to the surface again. I acknowledge the lessons of history, but I think the healing is the more compelling story. It is horrifying that the US was put in a position where using atom bombs seemed like the best option. It was the nadir of human existence. That is established.
I chose to celebrate what's happened since then.
And this president is such a contradiction. A peace prize winner for doing nothing. Conducts brutal (but necessary) attacks against terrorists. On the one hand, authorizes weapon sales to Viet Nam. On the other hand, denounces the horrors of war in Japan.

I see Michael Jackson tribute written all over this.

Can women tribute?

What exactly has kept every other US President from visiting Hanoi or the Hiroshima memorial?

The horrors of war need to be kept front and center, so we remember to find ways to avoid them. A "nuclear option" should never be considered.
