The MAGAs are coming! The MAGAs are coming!

Standing outside the building that produced two of the greatest documents about liberty and freedom in the history of civilization, President Joe Biden authoritatively condemned approximately half of the country's voters who disagree with him. Constitutional liberties apparently mean nothing to the self-proclaimed "great unifier," as Biden chastised all those who dare speak out against him. It was pure demagoguery meant to distract from the disastrous first 20 months of the Biden administration. He warned of "an attempt to nullify the votes of 81 million people" by vilifying 74 million others as an imminent threat. It was one of the darkest presidential moments in our nation's history.

"Too much of what's happening in our country today is not normal," Biden said in his ominous and divisive speech. "Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic."

Using our nation's colonial roots was a cheap political stunt. The only thing missing from the colonial backdrop of last night's political theater was Biden doing a reenactment in Philadelphia of Paul Revere's famous horse ride through Boston, warning, "The MAGAs are coming! The MAGAs are coming!"

The truth is Biden sounded, and looked, like every totalitarian figure from the 20th century who falsely warned of the dangers of political rivals and opponents. And just like those despotic tyrants, on Thursday, Biden weaponized fear to consolidate political support — and distract from his shortcomings as a leader.

With all due respect, Rightguide, Do you ever have an original thought of your own, or just post articles from propaganda "news" sites for the sole purpose of annoying people with your fucked-up opinions?

LMFAO The politics board has now become the ** guess who's alt is who game **

So far I'm *Q* *BotBoy* *Bluesdriver* Any other guesses?

You're on the wrong thread. Play the game or don't, but use the right thread

Nothing in Biden’s speech made me fear anything, and the MAGAs are fast disappearing.

Well, first off, I don’t take my marching orders from you. It’s getting old accusing one poster of being an alt as Pax did to Suggardaddy1. I’ve never associated a poster to someone’s alt and I’ve never played the game.

Yes you posted in the wrong thread and it's my fault....of course

Everyone knows Sugardaddy1, Counselor706, and Rightguide are the same person. That is common knowledge; it's not a "guess."
The point being, he spams the board continually with these far-right propaganda "news" pieces, and when he comments on them at all, it is usually to spew his usual toxic "Orwell/Atwood on steroids" opinions. Which we are all pretty tired of.

There a quite a few Lit anti-Trumpers who think miles is SD and C706. They also think vetteman is RG. If what you say is true, does that mean miles is vetteman? If so, does that mean the anti-Trumpers are wrong? If they're right, does that mean you're wrong? What happens if you're all wrong?

I don't know who "Miles" is but yes, I believe Vetteman is another one of your alter-egos.

Just so you know, you and the anti-Trumpers are wrong. I'm not C706, miles, vetteman or RG. Similar posting styles are nothing more than a coincidence. Whether or not you believe me is entirely up to you.

Shut the fuck up, miles.

Counselor706 is Miles, who has been banned from the board. Years ago Miles hilariously cited an Onion article as true.

Rightguide openly admitted to being vetteman.

People are trying to derail this topic... like they do with all of the topics they don't want people to discuss.

The democratic party has absorbed and internalized the term "Democracy". They believe that when Democrats win elections and get their neoliberal agenda pushed forward, that is Democracy. Like the Left has done before, it is co-opting language and using it to their political advantage. "Democracy" no longer means the rule of the people, now it simply means "Leftist political objectives". When they lose elections and can't their agenda enacted, that is a corruption of Democracy. Hillary Clinton losing the election was a blow to Democracy. If you start reading their words like this, it all becomes clear. To Democrats, Democracy = their agenda.

Replace the word "democracy" with "Leftist political agenda" to the following headlines:
  • Biden to frame midterm elections as war for democracy — and against Trump
  • Hillary Clinton thinks we're about to lose our democracy
  • Hillary Clinton: ‘End of Democracy Coming if Trump Wins in 2024’
  • Joe Biden Warns 'Extreme' MAGA Republicans Will Destroy Democracy
  • Press: In 2022, only one issue matters: Democracy!

There are people who wanted to overturn the election. Those people are supporters of 45 and some of those people are being elected to offices that oversee elections. When the vote of the people is ignored or even reversed, democracy stops.

That is what is threatening democracy and why it is being discussed in those headlines.

This quote is interesting.

"Too much of what's happening in our country today is not normal," Biden said in his ominous and divisive speech. "Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic."

Did he go off script? Did the speech writer get confused. What with the democrats blathering on and on about "Democracy" here we have ole Joe calling the nation what it is, a Republic. That must have appalled some democrats.

All of this "threat to democracy" rhetoric is troubling. First of all no one has explicitly stated exactly what the "threat" is. Regardless of what anyone thinks about the outcome of the 2020 election the system worked, may have been ugly, but it worked. And the 2020 election isn't the first contentious election in the nations history.

That's not the troubling part of the rhetoric though. Throughout history there are examples of one political cabal destroying a nations form of government in order to "save" it from destruction by their opposition. This has traditionally, but not always, has been achieved by fomenting a civil war. So I get extremely wary and suspicions of any political party that starts accusing their opposition of wanting to destroy a nations form of government with no evidence to back the claim up.

Democracy is the will of the people (aka votes)- when that is ignored by those in power (at any level) - that is a threat to democracy. It's not rocket science or calculus.

It's not like his party doesn't contain groups of people who are more than willing to occupy, loot and burn parts of the cities that they live in every time things aren't going their way politically and that's not just a one-off, but a modus operandi...

And exactly how was that threatened?
