No... this thread has steadily gone down... from 30 at it's height, down to a stable 18-20... then to 15... and now it's not reaching double figures after a week.

It's not one or two... it's a trend... sad as it may seem I keep scores by pad and pen by the keyboard and can see it clearly.

I'm not moaning or anything, as I've said countless times... and I think maybe it's our own fault as we sometimes have gone a fair while between subjects sometimes due to varying reasons... maybe some people got bored with waiting and I can't say I blame them.

Some people no longer take part because I have asked them not to. If they ignore me around the plave and tell me not to contact them, I find it hypocritical that they still expect to enter this and for me to act though nothing has happened. It's hard to count scores if people are on ignore. And lately I reckon my list is catching up KB's for length.

So.... from those that still take part... and even those that did and no longer do (unless you're covered by the para above), any feedback or suggestions are welcome, positive or negative (as long as they are constructive).

But if it has run it's couse, no probs..... but it's certainly not 'good weeks and bad weeks'.

You're welcome to slap me though..... but you'll have to take a number and get to the back of the queue.

Actually, DB has raised a good point, and a good question. We both have noticed the participation drop, starting several months ago. We chalked it up several times to things like holidays, or temporary loss of interest, or people taking breaks from Lit, and then of course March Madness here in the USA. And sure the number of participants would rise a bit, but then it just starts dropping down again, and right now it's at the lowest ever.

Now, some of it I'm sure is because we aren't able to post the new topics as frequently as we should. My work schedule lately has been horrid - I'm working every other weekend, and working overtime. That has taken a toll on me, and results in my not being around here as much as I should to help keep this thread going.

So, what we're asking from everyone, is just for some feedback. Such as:
--- Are you interested in us keeping this thread going?
--- Are the topics just not interesting enough?
--- Is there something different you'd like us to do - maybe do more topics in a format such as with my Shower Gel topic?
--- Is it because we're not doing new topics as frequently as before that is causing some lack of interest?

We're just trying to figure out if we should continue trying to keep the game going, or just thread end with this last topic. We do appreciate the support from those of you that have hung in there with our game, even as our updating of has gotten a bit sporadic at times. We do enjoy seeing how you think our minds are working with these topics!

That's kinda the point though DB/Razzy. Those of us that DO take part week after week clearly haven't got any problems with it, so you repetitively asking for feedback etc from us is getting kinda wearing.

The format works for us and we enjoy it, that's why we keep playing the game. We can't read others minds so we don't know why people don't play as newbies or why people who used to be regulars don't play any more. So I don't know what you expect us to suggest/tell you? The fact that you've asked this over and over and got no clear response should tell you that, surely?

We don't know why others don't post, same as you don't. Clearly there are reasons why, but they may be wide and varied. I was away last week, but luckily managed to get on via my iphone to post on the last round - if I hadn't, you'd have been down another one.

It really has to be your decision - if you think it's worth the effort and want to keep going then do so, otherwise make a choice and shut it down. Those of us that play will have to accept whatever you decide - even if it means the thread closes.

But if you do decide to continue, PLEASE, stop doing this 'We don't know if it's worth it' round after round - because it IS pissing people off, me included.

If you don't have problems then fine... but the simple fact is some people DO, and if this is to survive we need to find out why. At the moment we are lucky if 10 people enter... a third of what it was. It's those that it was aimed at.. not those who are happy. If you're happy then don't read it.... but even then maybe someone has an idea or suggestion.

We post because maybe people who used to play or aren't wholly happy may see it. And maybe those that DO play may have suggestions.

You then proceeded to answer most of what you'd asked anyway, as if you'd already made up your mind why things weren't improving on the thread. So why ask?

As I said all along - at the end of the day it had to be YOUR decision anyway - you were doing what those who actually play the game wanted, the others obviously didn't care enough to tell you, either this time or the previous times. Seems to me you are more concerned about those who don't want to play than those who actually make the effort to play and support the thread though.

It's been a fun game, but if you don't feel it's worth it any more, then you're right, it's time to stop.

We'll have to agree to disagree on your post. I was asking about ideas and suggestions for the thread.. not a character assassination about the way we asked. I think that was totally unfair.

I explained in PM just now that I didn't expect people to say what you expect, and frankly I don't understand how you get that from it. Maybe it says more about you... or your perception of me that you read those things into it.... Razzy can attest that I think it's our fault for neglecting it, and I've advocated closing it for some time. She wanted it kept open. Me... I don't mind, and I certainly was not trying to get kudos or guilt people. Thanks a bunch for thinking that. I expect this from certain quarters, but not you, and not from you in public.

What I'm confused about, is why no one even apparently looked at my posted reply from last night concerning this subject. Sure we were hoping for responses from those that have not posted lately, even if it was a long shot (though in the past our asking about the interest in the game has produced results, truly it has). But I also thought my other questions would have gotten responses from those of you that were still playing the game. Especially after I said that my time around here is infrequent, and that it would probably result in it taking longer between topics. I was also asking about the subjects themselves, and perhaps if a different format should be considered from time to time.

But sadly it seems that my whole post on that is overlooked, or at least not taken into consideration. Instead, we get told that we've now pissed people off for even asking our questions, and I feel like we've just had a strip torn off us for daring to ask. Frankly, I'm rather taken aback at the replies in the thread to DB's posts, feel that they were a bit on the harsh side, and also at the lack of any response to my post. I'm not angry, just rather disappointed.

However, no need for any of us to worry about this thread anymore as it appears to be in everyone's best interests to stop it here and now. Thank you though for your participation .

I happen to think that when someone asks quite well-meaningly and innocently for feedback about the thread and ideas people may have... it's fairly personal to say "you're pissing people off" and accusing them of having an agenda to guilt people into things... when they're not. Maybe that's my poor delicate sensibilities. Maybe it's you being rude. We each know the other's opinion.

Yes I do say that you misinterpret... and you also assume things to be true without knowing the facts. You assume because you saw no replies on the thread that there were no replies. You know from running the connections thread that things happen off-thread.

And again I disagree.... No.. they didn't work long term maybe... but to have done nothing would have meant giving up ages ago.

And again.. I think how people interpret the perfectly reasonable message for constructive feedback about the thread says more about them and what they may mean when they write stuff. We simply wanted to make the thread as good as possible.
