It was growing late. And he grew impatient.
After drilling his soldiers for the whole day, and having to dismiss the envoys of the neighbourings fiefs with nods of bored agreement, Lord Morholt had still much to do. Those envoys had been too tiresome to deal with, their reluctance to accept or sign anything regarding alliances and pacts a complete waste of Morholt's time... and he was never in the mood to be fooled with that.
Lord Morholt was an ambitious man. His dreams for glory and conquest were too many to one even start to discern - and some already bore fruit. However, there was still something amiss... a crown. To be recognised these other petty lords and nobles their definitive better. But that would not happen easily... if pursued by the 'correct' and 'fair' ways.
He had lost faith in God. Many already whispered of it. Morholt had ceased going to the Mass every Sunday, his mind taken by other important business elsewhere in his domains. But in fact... he had turned to darker powers. Powers that could have his objectives reached quite faster... and were quite more rewarding with their soft hands against his cheeks.
And with that in mind, he certified that no one followed him... before unlocking the door to the deepest of dungeons from his Stronghold - getting there to once again meet his cherished lover.
