The lone warrior

Lothak looked at Tyrael in astonishment. They had to battle arch-demons, he had sworn to rid the world of everything evil but an arch-demon was a powerful being, one capable of killing him in one blow.

"Okay, where is the first gate and what is the symbol on it?"

"In power, from weak to strong, they go: Anguish, Darkness, Fear, Hate, Terror, Fire, Pain, Death, and Destruction. Now, the names of the Arch-Demon are: Andariel, the Lady of Anguish; Baskillus; Lord of Darkness; Kintam, Lady of Fear; Mephisto, Lord of Terror; Diablo, Lord of Hate; Flaris, Lady of Fire; Duriel, Lord of Pain; Thaman, Lady of Death, and strongest, Baal, Lord of Destruction. We should stop these Demons in the order that I named them", he said, shuddering, watching in his mind as Baal obliterated 10,000 angels with a spell and laughed cruelly. Diablo and Mephisto, his true brothers fought alongside him. Diablo cast a Soul-Eater and a soul flew forward, ripped into an Angel-lord's stomach, ripped his soul free, and fed it to Diablo. Mephisto's hate turned the angels against each other, as his long and bony arms ripped others apart. What shocked Tyrael the most was that the other demons were simply standing there, Baal's commanding presence forcing even the most blood-thirsty into submission. They watched uneasily as Baal annhilated the rest of the angels. That battle was won wth no losses!

Lothak looked at Tyrael's face and seeing the expression on it said, "What is the matter oh lord. Is something happening with the war, is it not going well."

Lothak then closed his eyes and found that he couldn't see anything. It was as though someone or something had thrown a veil over his inner sight and made him blind. He opened his eyes in shock, what had the power to cut him off from his god.

Tyrael focused for a sedcond, and then cast a viewing screen into the air. It replayed the previous scene of destruction. Tyrael seemed as if he was about to scream.

Lothak saw that Tyrael and turned to the others, "Cover your ears, now! If you hear an archangel scream then it will deafen you or even kill you!"

He then placed his hands over his ears and hoped that it would be enough.

Tyrael waited until they had all covered their ears. Then he let out a long, mournful scream. It peirced the silence like a knife. Some of it managed to seep through their hands, but not enough to even cause pain. Although it did cause grief. Much grief. The scream resonated with the hate for demons and the deaths of angels. After 2 minutes, the sound stopped. Tyrael drooped his head and shuffled up the stairs. At every step, a single, crystalline tear fell, and also, a drop of blood, red as a rose, both beautiful and terrible, showing both life and death. Tyrael walked into his room and sat down on the bed. He did not bother closing the door.

Hesta

Hesta was shaking both at what she had seen and the idea of what they must do. She did not consider herself a coward but she did not see how they could defeat such powerful beings.

Still, it was better to die in battle than to wait for death to creep up on you. Turning to the others she said,"We have our work cut out for us. How do we propose to defeat such a great force? I do not wish to discourage anyone but we are up against things that have already killed and destroyed those more powerful than all of us put together. What makes us so different that we might succeed where they have failed?"

"I have made a solemn promise to destroy anything evil within the lands and these demons are the greatest evil here. I know that I will be asking alot of myself but I am going to go out and destroy those gates but I do not think that I can do it by myself, I will need help and with all your help I think that we can do it. I know that it will be a huge task that we will have ahead of us but I feel that we will be able to triumph."

Hesta

Hesta's brow furrowed. "You will not be alone, Elf," She said,"But, before we attack that which is so powerful I would like to have a battle plan. I do not think suicide would help our cause or that of anyone else."

"Neither do I, I do not think that running into a battle with an arch demon is the best way to go but we have to do something and I fear that we have to do something fast."

Tyrael let the tears roll, one of blood, and one of water, down his face. The blood symbolized hate for the demon, and the water symbolized love of good. Yet both bit deeper than any sword or weapon ever could. When he had finished weeping, he dried his face and stepped outside. "Lothak, I believe that you will get a chance to avenge your loved ones sooner than you think. Andariel, the Lady of Anguish, inhabits your home city", he said, drawing his weapons.

Lothak drew his scimitars, "That demon inhabits my home. I had a reason to return there but now it has become more important as she has to been destroyed. It will always give me a way to avenge my friends and rid the city of those demons."

He then looked over at the others, "I know of a way into the city that will make it so that we don't have to go through the demons there. There are a group of tunnels under the city that will lead to near the city square and I have a map for them."

He then pulled out a parchment and unrolled it, placing it onto the table.

Hesta

Hesta drew her own sword and sat down on a chair. As Lothak went over the map with them, she cleaned and sharpened her blade. She had a feeling she was going to need it sharp and ready and very soon.

"Sorry to inform you just now, but Andariel's portal is within those Catacombs. That means that they are more heavily gaurded than the rest of the city", said Tyrael, watching their expressions as he walked down the stairs. Then he struck withour warning. A oncealed dagger flew from his hand and buried itslef deep within a general's throat. Everyone gasped as the general slowly began to transform... into a demon! "He would have warned all demons for miles and they in turn would have warned the Arch-Demons", he said, as a long stream of blood leaked from the wound.

"How did they do that. I usually have the gift of sensing any evil within a mile of me but this time I felt nothing and my inner sight has left me. What has happened, has my god failed or is the evil so great in this region that it can stop any good forces."

Kristoff:

I stood away from the others. It was time to tell them."Everyone,I have a bit of important information regarding that army," i said...

"At least it can't be worse than the fact that we have to fight archdemons," I said. Sure, just go fight 9 archdemons so the gates to hell will be closed. Just this Andariel, the Lady of Anguish, would leave us with our insides out and our blood fed to her minions, no matter if we had an arch angel on our side or not. I hadn't really seen any displays of heavenly strength that he could possess and it wasn't likely he would begin to do so now. I was going with them anyway. I felt it was my duty to do so...and we just might have a chance of distracting the demons long enough for some REAl heroes to appear and throw them back to hell.

kristoff:

"It might not be,"I said."No one here knows what I was before this,do they," i asked...

I wouldn't have been much surprised if he turned into Baal, The Lord of Destruction himself after seeing what happened to the general. I looked at him with a wondering look awaiting what he was going to say. None of the others said anything either.

Kristoff:

"I was one of the few human soldiers in the army we are fighting"I said."I slaughtered people innocent people, burned villages for king Kalar,"."Until they slaughtered my wife and Girls,"I said.Standing ready in case i was gonna be attacked...

"Just as long as you are fighting with us and not against us then I have no quarrel with you," Lothak said before he stood and placed one hand onto Kristoff's right shoulder, signalling that they were comrades.

"Aye", said Tyrael walking over to Kristoff. "The reason you couldn't feel the demon is because Mephisto has found a new cloaking device that cloaks his demons. But, if they attack, they are sensed immediately", he said, turning to Lothak.

Hesta

Hesta's eyes fell on Kristoff and memories of the destruction of her village played behind her eyes. She crossed her arms and nodded. There was no time for thoughts like that.

"We shall fight these demons together. They are the danger now."

Kristoff

I could feel the hate in hestas voice."I can get you all into the main fortress,"I said.I placed my hand on the still bandaged wound.I owe hesta my life."There faces haunt me,you know, the people I killed,"I said to hesta."If I could take back what I did and let them live again I gladly would,". I felt her anger."I had nothing to do with your village,I actually advised against it," i continued...

Hesta

Hesta's eyebrow raised. "My village or another's it matters little. Someone somewhere cannot hold a babe in their arms or feel a lovers touch because of how you have lived your life."

"But, as I have said, these demons are our first concern. Let us deal with them so that no one else should be deprived of their loved ones."
