The lit old timers thread

Hello everyone 🙋🏼‍♂️

I found lit in 1997 and have a newer account because my first one was deleted (by accident, I’m sure). I came here for the stories and later the women. And, I have stayed for the same reasons. Only started using the forums routinely for several weeks now.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Tom
Welcome!

I'm into my second tour here after a 17 year hiatus, so I'm not really an old timer. My last post before coming back was December 29, 2005. I was here a little over a year before disappearing for reasons unknown.

I don't think I recognize anyone, except Lovercraft68 from those days, and that's only because I looked back through a few threads. Most everyone seems to have disappeared around 2013.

power's back on :) went out last night as a storm passed over but we're swapped out and electrified once again. it was vile heat and humidity yesterday evening, but with my fancy shmancy little arctic cooler i was fine... right up till the power went out around 8 or so. I was so looking forward to having it by my side of the bed, blowing sweet misty chillness on my face, and then a capricious god laughed. 😑

And 2014

Do you live in the american south without air conditioning?

yep. they've never had proper AC here in this old house: fans, window units etc, which get them by pretty well enough given their love and tolerance for the heat. me not so much *melty* in fact, me not at all. H's mum's been known to be outdoors with her little pickaxe thingy in 100 degree heat before now, sat down hacking at weeds in her flowerbeds for hours!

luckily it was only out for about 17 hours.

That's kind of how it is here. Two window units and a kitchen with a pilot light so hotter than even outside.

my body's happiest when temperatures are between 50 and 75, hotter than that and i'm craving being immersed in water. The cold i can handle, because you can wrap up and snuggle, but the oppressive heat? ugh.

H's mum comes from texas, and H loved living in Cali with its heat; with her age and build (he's slim as a rake, too), she really enjoys the warmth. And since we can't have her getting cold, that little arctic box is ideal for me!

I'm an AC guy myself. Bluey is even worse. We have central AC, but she has a window unit in her upstairs bedroom.
when we got the new window unit for his mum down in her den (open to the kitchen), she had it set at 87 degrees! She likes to sit close by it and now it's on a more normal setting she often turns it right off anyway :D It's all good, as long as she is comfortable... but if i'm trying to do 'proper' cooking or canning in the summer then i have to have it on plus the ceiling fan PLUS take in the big portable fan, too, or i'd literally die of heatstroke. And that's another reason why i now tend to freeze a lot of the produce and can when things cool down outside instead of trying to do it all as soon as it's picked.

Just three? I shoot for all 12..perfect score!
nah, just heat-related for me. forget things so easily, like laundry in the washer or dryer, or intending to do something but forget i meant to till too late to bother that day and so on. as soon as things are cooler, i'm firing on all cylinders again. *sigh*

and if your aim is a perfect score and you're achieving it? kudos :D i don't believe it though

Well I've been dealing with a mid life crisis since I was 15.
