...One of my pet peeves and biggest annoyances.
The fakes,
The liars,
The Fucktards (as I like to nickname them)

The people who come on the internet, get to know you, and lie completely about who they are.
There've been a few people I've run into like this, one imparticular fairly recently and it just drives me crazy.
It's not just in the world of D/s, but it is one place that I seem to have found it.
They lie about their skill level,
They talk like they have everything,
They lie about their location, job, money, equipment they own, .. everything!

All to try and make themselves look good. Pathetic really since in the end, it just makes them look like complete fools.

And they really think that in the end they're not going to be found out?

It's really almost amusing, but I don't like people that waste my time.

Of course, once they're found out they pretend like they've disappeared off the face of the earth for a little while... afterall, no one can keep up a good lie for that long.

So what have you been lied to about? What's your rant about it? Tell me your thoughts.. or don't. :)

A special thanks to the guy (if you can call him that) that made this thread possible. lol

Bump

Gee I must be boring I'm just a poor southern man whore.

P.S.

Nice thread idea, hope to see many funny stories

Dearest Zaudika,
I am terribly sorry that you did not find me to be ugly but that is no reason to start a thread like this about it. :p

Snooze - But hey, at least your honest about it!!.. hehehe. j/k.. ;) :rose: Thank you. :)

James - It's all ok, we live, we learn, we rant and make sure the world knows. ;) :rose:

Ezarc - Silly silly man. :p ;) :rose:

This forum is full of people mascarading. They aren't presenting themselves as something they aren't in a blunt way because they are desperately trying to convince themselves they are what they want to be.

Players abound here. They know who they are and usually the most vocal about defending themselves.

Shadowsdream, catalina, Analize, lark, Scarlett, and others speak from an honesty and openess that I both respect and admire.

i'm a reletive newb to all this who was laid off shortly after 9/11 strugling to pay his rent and owns a single length of rope for which he paid $6.98 at walmart.

Sorry you had a bad experience, Zaudika.

This is not an incident that is unique to BDSM. There are message boards for writers where people are 40+ years old and have never finished a short story. You do not have to be great in order to be a writer, but at some point you must try to write or accept the reality of your circumstances. Likewise there are people who hope to be writers who hang around such message boards, and they wade in slowly and realize it is not for them. Or they wade in....feel at home....and then go whole hog. Or there are people who come to troll and ask stupid questions before doing some big heel turn.

And it is not just internet. Let's say we are chemists. We can go to a professional conference and be shocked to see that less than 50% of the attendees are practicing chemists. There are salespeople, assistants, aspiring chemists and random onlookers. You might have a famous chemist and someone who has just ground out a solid living for 25 years. You have a few people who think they are chemists when that assertion has no basis in reality. And this is where everyone is face to face and a cursory check could prove or disprove someone's "credentials" in thirty seconds or less.

That is just life. Yeah, it stings a little when the confusion happens in matters of the heart but it is definitely not an internet phenomenon or even a BDSM issue. If I was obsessed with credentials and only being around serious people (whatever that might mean), I would have the good sense to sequester myself inside an invite-only community. That way I could make demands about what sort of credentials and behavior are required to participate. Or I would have the wisdom to just walk away if I was not somehow benefiting or learning or enjoying myself.

It is worthwhile to give back 5-10% and do limited efforts "make the community a little better" but in the end the only person we need to take care of is ourselves. Just be glad only your time was wasted, Zaudika.

In the end, what you see on your screen is just little bits of invisible stuff that provides the foundation for an illusion. Zaudika, I'm sorry you had your time wasted. Take from here what works for you and ignore the rest. That's my motto. Fortunately, there are some pretty cool people who post here.

Edited to add: I've met a few people from here. I've talked to others on the phone and chatted on yahoo with several others. In general, I've found that people here are exactly who and what they say they are..... or maybe I've been lucky in my choice of friends.

Hang in there Zaudika. You are a special person and any fool who misses that is not really worthy of you. There are some good ones out there as you know, and as painful as the journey can be, it seems to make the arrived destination that much sweeter and more cherished.

let's go form our own "rejected" club :p

Perhaps we could just start our own thread about people who do not make the lists!

;)

Awww...I'm sorry, the list is long and I didn't mean to exclude anyone. Besides, who cares about my list anyways!

On the subject a hand though.... and despite not making the list... I have met several people who post at Lit... I have been to both an Austin and Houston get together...

I have developed a llasting friendship with a person I met at Lit...

I have chatted both on-line and on the phone with others... some as far away as England...

Some of the people I have met never venture to the BDSM boards...

In all I have met the most interesting and "real" people at Lit... They are smart and witty and sharp and fun... Most appear in person to be just what they are in the forums...

Just my thoughts...

What I finds interesting is that the lying is generally for their benefit, not yours. It is all part of some people who have a slippery grasp on reality, or very little self-esteem. It has less to do with wanting to decieve others, and alot to do with wanting to pretend that they are someone else.

I wouldn't bother to lie, mostly because in my less-than-humble opinion, I think I am a pretty decent person, but if I pretend to be someone else, I will only attract friends who are suited to the person I pretend to be, and not suited to me. There are millions of people online, surely there are at least a few who will like you for who you are.

Ahhh Johnny,
We all know you are an evil twisted person. That is why we like you. Don't change a thing.
In all seriousness though(a new thing for me so bear with me), some people just don't have the guts to let others see them for who they are. If they feel they are lacking they try to impress them with stories instead of just who they are. They are empty and sorry people. I would pity them if they didn't cause so many problems with others that they have contact with.

See, and the really pathetic part is that the liars could certainly find people to like them for who they are, if they could just cut out the bullshit, you know? I know I'm judgmental, arrogant, and a complete smartass, but some people actually like that sort of thing. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than liked for pretending to be someone else. That ultimately makes me believe that the liars must not like themselves too much.

Witch perhaps lead to the end, where they punished themselves ;)
However its true, that some liars can make your day pretty bad
Experience with peoples like that also mostly lead to great level of suspiction, witch the "normal ones" must simply either accept or reject (that's the damage to the rest of us), when trying to establishing sole level of friendship or relationship ;)

So far, they should be punisher much harder that does the lack of self-respect and only fake friends

Thank you everyone for all your awesome comments and words. It does mean a lot.

I have talked to many people from here also, plus met several *wonderful* people from here too. Many of which I would LOVE to see again. :D .. (you all know who you are. :D)

I by far don't believe that the majority of people here are fakes. I simply just met one person, who happened to be male, that was. Kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth, especially after investing time and sharing part of my mind.

However, I'm forunate enough to have plenty more friends from here that bring the pleasant taste back. . :) .... and ok.. that sounded just a little kinky. :D

Me, I'm a straight-up online wannabee phoney, but I ADMIT it
So I guess I would qualify for being exactly who & what I say I are :p

Boy, I am suddenly in mind of the "Lit member 'member' taste test" that popped up in a How To board thread on oral sex for some reason....:D
