The Labyrinth

Rorik nodded and let go of Elle. He looked over at the braided man who also nodded. Together they strode toward the portal. The tall man was struggling to his feet. Rorik really felt his nerves kicking in.

As they approached the portal they could see that it was a vertical drop into darkness. He took a deep breath and lowered himself over the edge. "There seems to be a drop." Rorik let go and feel ten feet to a stone floor. Around him a mold grew on the stone walls which let out a low level light.

Picking himself off the floor he called up to the others. "It is safe. Just expect a drop."

The drop was slightly further then what Elle had expected but none the less she landed on her feet and for the first time she was glad she was barefooted for she was able to feel something she doubted the others would.
Her voice soft but within the walls it carried greatly now.
Guys (loose term of course) I think we are standing in water or something wet at least.
Elle could only hope it was water at this point the thought of it being anything else made her skin crawl.

Avrielle dropped down with the rest of them, her long limbs ensuring less of a drop than Elle but her joints felt the impact just a bit when she made it down and her left leg nearly buckled beneath her. She looked down at where her boot rested and wondered what it was they'd splashed into.

Kona dropped into the hole, landing like a cat. He touched the liquid to his tongue. "It is fowl water. Do not try to drink it." Suddenly the tall man dropped down beside them and the iris started to close. Spirits poured into the hole like rays off of a sinking ship.

He tensed his grip on his club. His impression of the tall fool was not good and he half assumed that the man would immediately attack him. From behind him he sensed quick movement, like the swinging of a weapon. It was Rorik trying to hit the man in the head with his staff.

It happened so fast first Elle was on her feet still and next thing she knew she was laying face down in the water which she tried not to drink or even allow to go into her mouth the smell being so rancid, some how ever did make it's way in through her nose.
After a few moments of being down Elle slowly she sat partly soaked now and shaking, that was when she saw Rorik trying to make contact with the man's head that it seemed no one really liked including her now not that she cared for men much period, Rorik was however quickly growing on her.

As the spirits poured in with them Avrielle opened her mouth, almost an instinctive reaction. She felt for a full second as if she was drowning...They all swirled around the group of them, some protectively, some giving warnings she couldn't make out in the bustling and frantic nature of their collection, some were definitely making it clear they were not of good intent at all. The amoeba-like cloud of intelligent smoke which had been with them before, choking the idiot, now came up from the fetid water and joined the swirling mass of spirits. Avrielle felt and recognized it, and recognized its intent to kill the idiot the minute he showed any signs of weakness.

It was then that Rorik turned and tried to hit this man in the head with his staff. Avrielle shut her mouth and stepped forward, watching with mild concern as the two men struggled. She looked over at the braided man who had also moved toward the fray but paused. Should they stop this? Should they let it happen? She moved closer to the braided man and whispered, ''The spirits are watching very closely. We're surrounded. Some are eager to see people hurt.'' At those words she touched Elle's shoulder. She wouldn't make any further assumptions about people without asking if they wanted help. Not so soon after the idiot had insulted her. So she quickly turned to Elle and asked, ''You alright?'', and was pleased that the petite woman took her hand and accepted the bit of help to stand.

Avrielle then looked back at the man she'd been addressing and he nodded his head to her in understanding. He did get it more than the others did, she felt his spirituality was deep. ''Should we stop them?'' she asked.

Kona saw the young man setting at the tall man's head. To saw the least it startled him. He had been wary of the man, but had not even considered such a preemptive action. The lad had guts, but apparently not brains. The tall man's scimitar swung around to block the blow. Within seconds the tall man had swept the lad to the ground with a kick and was raising his sword to kill him.

"Should we stop them." Kona nodded and sprang forward to block the blow. "Spare him! He's only a boy!" The tall man whirled on Kona in anger and dealt him such a strong blow that he could barely turn it. He barely ducked under the man's second scimitar as it swung at his head.

Rorik backed up through the muck and used his staff to gain his feet again. With a roar he attacked the tall man's back.

Something, something deep within Elle flashed something which for her had not flashed since well that she could recall days before she had been striped from her mother by her father and she had seen them fighting unknown to them until she yelled out, and now she did the same only thing was her voice boomed within the walls everyone was in.
STOP IT BOTH OF YOU. IT IS CHILDISH AND FOOLISH WE DO NOT NEED TO DIE THIS SOON WITHIN HERE.
At that very moment Elle had a very cold feeling go through or was it into her body she wasn't sure all she knew was she felt like she was falling and her voice now no longer worked. Her eyes however clearly did and shifted to Arivelle and in them she would (maybe) see the question being asked of what is happening.

The spirits were getting excited and the violence was spurning some of them to get bolder and make true physical contact. Avrielle was shoved hard by one malevolent one and when she turned to defend herself it was no longer there but was wrapping itself around Elle. Avrielle silently called out for help to any non-corporeal beings in the vicinity which might be able to help Elle and the others.

The woman she'd seen before, 'idiot's grandmother, appeared and shielded both women from the other spirits until they backed off. Meanwhile, the three men were still in the midst of combat amongst themselves.

It took a long while OK it felt like a long while to Elle but really maybe only a few minuets had passed and she felt the coldness leaving her most of it at least.

Looking to Arivelle then.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset the spirit people so by yelling. I'll remain basically quit now as I think that best.

It was clear Elle was very shaken at this point and that was more where her words where coming from then anything.

Avrielle shrugged, ''I don't think it's you upsetting them, Elle.'' she said, glaring at the men still fighting amongst themselves.

She would have grown impatient had her attention not been drawn to the fact that the water beneath them was disappearing into a crevass appearing around the perimeter of the 'room', bordering the walls...and the floor, now seemingly a moving platform, was slowly dropping, and all of them moving down along with it.

Feels the ground moving under her, Elle gives a quick but silent look to the others and then seems to vanish from view. (yes I am still playing encase someone is wondering.)

Avrielle squints at where the woman beside her had been just a moment before. ''Elle?'' she asked at the nothingness where the woman had once stood.

Elle would scream out, I'm here, right beside you Arivelle. All Arivelle would feel however was a slightly warmer breeze around her body.
