The Lab (Closed for Forthinu)

Eric Gatland - Security manager

I was still in my office, as someone knocked.
"Come in!" some say my voice sounds intimitating, and that I look just the same - and it is true. I am not that tall, just about 6 and a half, but very broad. My hair is white and short cropped, and I have ice-blue eyes, and a small scar in my face. Just the right look in my job, that is more dull then you might think. Nothing really ever happens in here, because the troublemakers don't make it through the maingaite, and we haven't even had a spy or burglar yet. I saw that woman in the door, one of the kind I would like to do a stripsearch on. I had been told there was a new employee here - so a scientist. Hah...

I entered to find a man taller than me and with the bluest eyes I had ever seen.

"Hi, My names Dr Carla Dixon. I arrived today. Dr Wolf told me to come and see you to get all my security passes." I smiled pleaseantly at him, afterall, it was never a good idea to annoy security, you never knew when you would need them.

I'd already signed a contract and non-disclousre form, but I knew there was probably more paperwork even if it was the usual details and signing for the passes. I also wondered if I would need a photo for the pass and if so, did they do them here? But I didn't say anything as I was sure if photo's were involved then Mr Gatland would let me know.

I picked up the files that I had been given. Her photograph, her name, birthdates, etc. etc.

"You will get a provisional security pass, Miss Dixon. You have two days to get the photograph for the regular one. The papers are prepared, read them carefully and sign them."
I watched her, not smiling, as I had no reason to. She was rather cute for a scientiest, and looked a lot younger then 42. I bet Luke, that slimy toad, had already hit on her. Sureley he had his fingers in hiring her for the job, hoping he would get his finger on her, or rather in her, as well.

Mr Gatland seemed to be the type of guy who took his job seriously, no responding smile, the sort of guy I felt I didn't want to be on the wrong side of. Note to self, if you see him in the bar, avoid if possible.

I pulled the papers to my side of the table and spend the next few minutes reading thoroughly. He wasn't going to intimidate me into signing my life away. In the forms there were a couple of odd sentences, but nothing too untoward, so I signed the forms and slid the papers back towards him.

"I'll bring in the photo's about the same time tomorrow." I was glad i'd visited the photo booth on the way here, so had several photo's in my room i'd hope would do.

"Anything else you require?" I asked, hoping to get out of there as soon as possible. For some reason, there was something about Mr Gatland that made me feel uncomfortable.

Eric Gatland - Security manager

"You have read the rules; don't violate them, that's the only thing I require. And if you see or notice anything strange or odd, tell me."
Of course I did not tell her about the strange rumors I hear about. I was curious if anybody would seriously come up with them to me. There had been very vague reports, but I didn't find anything when I checked. When I first hear about these, I thought hey would just be something made up as joke, and nobody would dare to make a joke with me. So when there were reports of something to me, this people were serious about what they saw but might not told all, because they where afraid I would not believe them. That convinced me that there was some stupid prank going on, and I was determined to find that pranksters and teach them some humor of my own. That new female could well be a target, and she would not play any tricks on me. So I waited what would happen next.

I wanted to ask him what he meant by strange and odd, but I doubted i would get a straight answer anyway. Also being new, how was I supposed to know what was strange and odd for this place? So instead I smiled and said "If I see anything then i'll be sure to let you know."

"Is that everything? Or do you need my signature on anything else?" I asked, thinking longingly of a drink followed by a good nights rest.

Eric Gatland - Security manager

"No - that would be all." In fact, it was. I would close my office now and go home nd watch some videos then. There were other men on duty, and I doubted anything would really happen. I guess somebody had just been bored and thought a prank would be a thrilling thing to do.

"Thank you for your time and i'll bring you the photos tomorrow about the same time." I smiled at him, not that I expected a response.

When I left the Security Office I went searching for the Bar, wondering if I would ever get used to the rabbit warren. I found the bar more by the hub bub of noise coming from there than anything else.

Standing at the door way, my eyes searched the room for Luke.

Luke Woods

Now, there she was already. I knew I had her on the hook already if she came back searching for me. I turned around at the bar and waved with my glass. Maybe a few more drinks and I got her... I knew I should not rush to much, and I could have her for sure, but if she woukld jump at me, I surely would not turn her away.

I saw Luke wave to me and made my way over to the bar.

"Vodka and lemonade." I requested from the bar man. I wanted a drink I could drink, not sip and also wouldn't leave me too dehydrated, or a hangover.

"I see they like to keep people happy." I indicated the expensive decor, I said whilst I waited for the barman to bring me my drink.

"Thanks." I said taking a sip. It was a stronger than I was used to, but then I was only planning on having the one, two at most.

Luke Woods

"Yes, I hope you will be happy here." I grinned and took a drink; we would see where we would get.
"So you have met our security boss."

"Yep. Is he always so serious and strange? I'm sure it's great in a security guy, but he didn't smile once, just looked menacing, not that he actually did or do anything."

I took another sip of my drink. Already I was beginning to feel more relaxed after what had been a stressful day. But then again, being in a new place was always stressful until you got used to it.

Luke Woods

So she didn't like him, very well. Maybe I should work on that to make sure he wouldn't come into my territority.
"Yes, I think he takes his business a bit to serious, and who knows, I think he is a bit weird myself. I would not want to be alone with him, if I were a woman. I would advise you not to deal to much with him."
I looked on her drink, it was not yet empty, so I would have to wait a moment before I would get her another.

I would not want to be alone with him, if I were a woman

There was something in the way he said it that made me curious, but put it down to Mr Gatland being weird.

"I have to see him tomorrow to give him my photos for the paperwork, but hopefully after that I hope our paths won't cross much."

I finished my drink and put it on the table.

"What are the staff like here? The usual mix, or any that it would be a good idea to stay on the good side of?"

Luke Woods

"I think the rest of the staff is completely harmless, but really boring. Except me and you, of course."
I put on my friendly winning smile. I heard that others had called it a dirty, slimy grin, but I knew that was envy and nothing else.

I smiled back, though for some reason it made me uncomfortable, not that I let on.

"Us interesting people should stick together." I joked, afterall, I didn't want to alientate a possible friend and enemies in a small communtiy like this could make life awkward.

"Time I was heading back to my room. Remind me, what's the quickest way from here to there?" I asked, giving him my room number to make it easier for him to help me.

Luke Woods

Wow, if that wasnÄt an invite already... I quickly got up.
"No problem at all. I will show you the way."
So I already had that room number. And she wanted to be shown home...

As we walked I took in the various corridors.

"Wouldn't it be easier to put up signs or colour code the corridors?" I asked as we crossed yet another corridor crossroads.

"Is there a map somewhere?" I asked wondering if maybe there was one in a draw in my quarters I may have missed. "Or how am I supposed to know what's down there?" I asked indicating a dimly lit corridor off to my right,

Luke Woods

"There are some maps, but not of all areas. I think this one should be covered."
I put a hand on her arm, as if to reassure her and giving her some comfort. I knew her room was just around another corner, so I had better made my move before that.

"Any help to learn the layout of this place."

When Luke place his hand on my arm, I just automatically stopped. I guessed it was supposed to comforting, but it felt odd being touched by someone i'd know for such a short time.

"Thank you." I said to reassure him so that we could continue walking.

Luke Woods

She said "thank you" and stopped when I touched her. So I guessed right about her intensions. To bad she had that coat covering her body, but who knew how soon that could change. "Your welcome." I said, putting my wiide smile in my voice, while my hand gently slided down over her butt, trying to imagine how it would feel without that layers of fabrique.

I tried not to cringe as his hand touched my butt and turned a little away from him so his hand would be on my hip rather than my ass. For the sake of remaining friendly, I resisted the urge to slap his face.

"I really am feeling tired tonight. Is my room far?" I asked, hoping he would see this tactic as a delay rather than a 'you're moving too fast and even then i'm not sure you're my type, so back off', especially as the memory of his slimey smile came back to me.

Luke Woods

She twitched a little, but she did not protest. I knew that meant that she enjoyed it and offered me more, but wanted to play the prude a little before. So I would do her the favour for tonight. I hoped to do her right away, but so I might have to work a few days on her to get her where we both wanted to go. Sadly her room was just ahead.
"It is the third door from here."

"It is the third door from here."

"Thank you." I said as I left him to walk to the door he indicated. I quickly opened the door and let myself in and was glad when I could close it behind me. All I wanted was my bed, it had been a long day.

I knew I wouldn't be able to avoid Luke and most of the time his company had been good, but his being so familiar, especially the way he thought he could touch my arse had un-nerved me. Maybe I was making a mountain our of a mole hill, or more likely Luke was one of those men who thought he was god's gift to women, I wasn't sure, but I knew i'd have to think of ways to keep him at arms length.

I made my way to the bathroom and got ready for bed.

Luke Woods

"Goodnight then." I stood for some moments in the hall, having a hard-on. I wasn't to big, but quality counts. I wonder if I should have told her about the rumors to frighten her a little, but I kept that as possibility for the future and moved back to my rooms.
