The Isolated Political Blurt Thread

Thanks to the people who promoted trickle down, the majority cannot put their money where their mouth is.

One trillion dollars was taken away from the 80 % and sucked up by the 1%

Yeah, I know-

How can I be so naive, as to believe...

Then, again. The Massholes on the Right side gave us Mitt Romney.
This year, we have Governor Charlie Baker.

The people who need the concept to sink in, will never let it sink in.

Just because something makes sense, and leads to a logical conclusion, does not mean that it will be recognized and grasped by those who need to.

More, is the pity in these times.

Was the old term, "blockheads" ?

We are living in the most moral period of our species’ history.

Ever since the Enlightenment, thinkers have consciously applied the methods of science to solve social and moral problems, and in the process created the modern world of liberal democracies, civil rights, equal justice, open political and economic borders, and prosperity the likes of which no human society in history has ever enjoyed.

More people in more places have greater rights, freedoms, liberties, literacy, education, and prosperity—the likes of which no human society in history has ever enjoyed. In this provocative and compelling talk—that includes brief histories of freedom rights, women’s rights, gay rights, and animal rights, along with considerations of the nature of evil and moral regress—Shermer explains how scientific ways of thinking have moved us ever closer to a more just world.

The Moral Arc: How Science Leads Humanity Toward Truth, Justice, and Freedom

. It is a book about moral progress that demonstrates through extensive data and heroic stories that the arc of the moral universe bends toward truth, justice, and freedom. Of the many factors that have come together over the centuries to bend the arc in a more moral direction, science and reason are foremost. The Scientific Revolution led by Copernicus, Galileo, and Newton was so world-changing that thinkers in other fields consciously aimed at revolutionizing the social, political, and economic worlds using the same methods of science. This led to the Age of Reason and the Enlightenment, which in turn created the modern secular world of liberal democracies, civil rights and civil liberties, equal justice under the law, open political and economic borders, and the expansion of the moral sphere to include more people—and now even animals—as worthy of moral consideration. Epic in scope, The Moral Arc is the Cosmos of human history.

Horrible things like the Koch brothers corruption of America's political machinery, the biblethumpers who are driving women's health clinics out of existence, megainchurches run by megalomaniac money grubbers, who pour untold wealth into the hands of Right Wing extremists, who sold whatever sane and decent feelings they had, so they could live the high life in Washington D.C., the un-neccesary agonizing deaths of wrongly condemned prisoners, the insanity of organizing a system which places all minorities into a pemanant underclass, and the inhuman suffering of factory farmed food animals hidden by law, are all aberrations to the rule?

Alrighty, then.*

wonkette brought this to my attention-

What is the Convention of States?

It is an idea that takes as its basis Article V of the sacred Constitution, which states:

[O]n the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, (Congress) shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which…shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths.

I explored Bristol Palin's blog. She is 25 years old!

Bristol Palin is drumming up support, (As a poster child ? I have no way to confirm if these are her very own statements.) and is asking people to email state legislators.

"My mom talked about how it’s important to support the Convention of States, because it will restrict the size of the federal government. You know, the federal government whose IRS has been illegally targeting Tea Party groups, the federal government which has been spying on us, the federal government which is drunk on its own power?"

"Yeah, that one."

"Thankfully, the Founders put something in the Constitution that allows us — the states!! — to say, “No more.”

Do the Conservatives know about this ?*

I cannot speak for all conservatives because I don't seem to get the company newsletter.

I would assume most informed citizens know what an Article V Convention is. Not necessarily by "conservative" Republicans but Republicans already hold enough State legislatures to call an Article V Convention. They could easily pass whatever measure they wished and Democrats could not muster the votes to suggest, much less block anything.

They are a handful of States shy of being able to ratify, however, which is why one has not been called.

Teen girl calling 911-"Can y'all please hurry up!"

911 Dispatcher- "OK, let's stop whining. OK, let's stop whining. It's hard to understand you... two people were struck, correct?" the operator said.

Teen girl gives short answer

Dispatcher- "Is there someone else there I can talk to, because it's so hard..."

(The dispatcher is whining at a traumatised teen, who is most likely in shock, and
the teen is telling him that she understands her father and his gf are dead, or close to death.)

The teen then explains the only other conscious person is her young brother.

The girl's father, 38-year-old Rick Warrick, and his fiancee were hit by a car as they changed a tire on the shoulder. The teen's father was killed, seconds after he had tightened the last bolt.

The car that hit them then fled.

http://www.wbal.com/article/113222/3/911-call-operator-tells-teen-in-fatal-crash-to-stop-whining

The teen's father died from his injuries, shortly after being hit. Her father's fiance, a 28-year-old woman, suffered two broken legs, a broken pelvis and a fractured skull.

The teen girl was not whining. She was not hysterical. She was not whimpering or crying.

She was speaking in a clear voice.

She was explaining the situation, in her own way.

The white dispatcher did not like the way she was expressing herself.

Calling 911, while...

You do not get compassion, you do not get sensitivity, or respect, from a racist.

Once again, I turn to Snopes for some hope of truth.

Either someone was there, or they were not there.

Either something was said, or it was not said.

Either something was done, or it was not done.

Either something was written, or it was not written.

What is clear cut, is simple.

After that, details are examined.

I thought you were going to "meta troll" me out of existence here?

Not working out very well for ya, is it?

Maybe another alt might do the trick. Sure, the last four or five haven't gotten you any traction, but the next one might! ...or the one after that....

How long until we see the first use of a weaponized drone in CONUS as a terror tool by antimodern forces? A couple pounds of plastique and all sorts of targets behind fences become vulnerable.

In power barely a month, Republican competence and strategies are already being called into question by that usually reliable Republican cheerleader The Wall Street Journal. Their hopes for the Oval Office could be slipping away pretty early unless they pull their shit together, especially on the immigration issue.

Is there ever a week that goes by, and the Wingnuts do not out themselves ?
