The Isolated Political Blurt Thread

If Scott Walker treated his own family, as if they were the citizens of Wisconsin, what would happen to them ?

If Scott Walker became President, would all of the USA have the same problems as Wisconsin does ?

"We need a president and leaders in Washington who understand that it is important not to build the economy in Washington, that we as Americans want to build the economy in cities and towns all cross this great country."
- Scott Walker

Scott Walker's method is to have the poor and the middle class (80 per cent of the population) support his system-

The lowest 20% in income in Wisconsin pay 8.9% of their family income in state and local taxes. The second lowest 20% pay 10%. The mid 20% pay 10.2%. So does the fourth 20%. That’s 80% of taxpayers.

The" top 1% pays only 6.2% in state and local taxes.

“We need a president that doesn’t sit in Washington DC when world leaders are standing together against terrorism in Paris.”

Would Scott Walker use the other side of his face to complain about wasted money and wasted time, if President Obama took part in the farce on a blocked Paris street with bigwigs who do not allow freedom of t he press, in their countries ?

I find it strange, that Republicans accuse Muslims of not assimilating in America, when Republicans are refusing to adapt to what America is, today.

Some updates on my post Charlie Hebdo life … I got assaulted and had obscenities and hate speech directed towards me.

Security within my apartment complex sent this letter out to all residents. Both my roommates have distinctive cars. And I guess the ppl who have been making my life difficult thus far now know where and with whom I live with. P’s car got keyed a few days ago. M’s car was egged. I feel horrendous tt my roommates’ property are being destroyed bc of how intolerant ppl can be. I understand tt many ppl within my professional circle are hurting and reeling from the aftermath. I’m aware tt this sort of behaviour is not at all indicative or accurately representative of the world’s sentiments about the situation and I recognise and am thankful for the support and solidarity I’ve seen on the news and in my own real life but isolated incidents like these still make me scared and sad …a lot more so for those who fit the stereotypical image and idea of the group who is being targeted.

It’s difficult for me to be vocal about this bc 1) I was always raised to hide or at the very least downplay this part of my identity and 2) I’m well aware of the privilege tt the way I look affords me in terms of «passing» as not a member of the community being targeted. When Charlie Hebdo happened, I was afraid and shocked and worried all at once but mostly for my friends and colleagues who have to deal with this sort of discrimination, racial profiling and increased scrutinisation from law enforcement on a daily basis. Because I know I can go under the radar unnoticed (as long as ppl don’t dig too deep), I always felt like it wasn’t my place to contribute a voice to the conversation.

I still struggle, grapple with how much to say about all this, how specific I should be, if my concerns and fear and pain are all valid esp. when compared to other ppl within the community.

I wasn’t in America when 9/11 happened. I wonder if this …what I’m feeling and going through with the Charlie Hebdo aftermath… is what it felt like for the ppl who were / still are being discriminated against.

A team of 500 people, including National Guard troops, will be part of Emergency Management.

The Storm of 1978 killed people. Tonight, temperatures are expected to drop to 0f, and, lower.

If you are at home, please pay attention to vents for your heating system, outside.
Carbon monoxide is dangerous. The high winds may pile the snow up in drifts against your house.

I have not seen a President Obama Emergency feed crawl across my TV screen, yet.

Five governors and 55 million people, are caught up in Juno 2015.
That sounds like it is serious enough, to me.

Anyone who does not flinch at the thought of causing human suffering, in order to establish a power base, should be shoved out of a hatch, and left to die in space.

Marissa Alexander, the Florida mother whose case became a rallying cry for anti-racism activists and survivors of domestic violence, was released Tuesday after three years of incarceration.

Alexander had faced up to 60 years behind bars for firing a single shot near her abusive husband, unable to convince a jury she had feared for her life. A hearing Tuesday confirmed the terms: Having pleaded guilty to assault in exchange for credit for time served, she will be subject to two years of electronic monitoring and house arrest, except for approved appointments and employment.

Circuit Court Judge James Daniel acknowledged that the case had drawn national attention but claimed his decision was “not based on any public opinion of any larger issue of public interest or social concern, but on the specific facts of the case.”

Alexander’s case has long sparked outrage about the unequal application of the law for both black Americans and women. Alexander was prosecuted by Angela Corey, who was also the prosecutor in the trial of George Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the February 2012 killing of Trayvon Martin. Corey did not appear at Tuesday’s hearing.

“We are thrilled that Marissa will finally be reunited with her children, her family, and her community,” said Sumayya Coleman, co-lead of the Free Marissa Now Mobilization Campaign. “Today’s hearing revealed that Alexander intends to attend school to become a paralegal and she is a wonderful mother to her children who urgently need her. Amazingly, the State continued their campaign of punishment by trying to add two more years of probation.” But the state didn’t get its way.
In November, Alexander pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated assault with a weapon in exchange for credit for time served. A second trial had been planned for December, when Corey had planned to seek a 60-year sentence, triple the 20-year sentence Alexander got in her first trial.

The Free Marissa Now Mobilization Campaign and The Monument Quilt wrote on Facebook that “350 quilt squares containing stories from survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault will blanket the Duval County Courthouse lawn to let Jacksonville and the world know Marissa is NOT ALONE.” A fundraiser on Alexander’s behalf exceeded its goals, raising $58,297 from 1,122 backers on the site GoGetFunding.

“We have always believed that forcing Marissa to serve even one day in prison represents a profound and systemic attack on black women’s right to exist and all women’s right to self-defense,” the Free Marissa Now Mobilization Campaign said in a statement after Alexander’s plea deal.

The incident in question took place in 2010, nine days after Alexander, now 34, gave birth to a daughter. Alexander testified that her estranged husband, Rico Gray, had physically abused her several times and that on that day, he threatened to kill her. No one was injured, but a jury convicted her in about 12 minutes.

Goodness, gracious! Are they all competing to prove themselves to be the winner in a John McCain Act Alike contest ?

I see that our Situational Native American attempted to politicize Dolf's end-of-life questions thread on the General Board and failed miserably.
