Nice! I spent some of my single digit years and one or two of the teen ones in a 1980 CJ-7. It had the 304ci and dig this....A/C AND an automatic transmission. We eventually traded it in on a Grand Wagoneer. That was a bitchin truck but it was too switch-fancy with power windows and seats that would fail. I'd restore one of those. I dig it in white, tint the windws and who knows who could be inside? ...Liberace, or maybe an uptown pimp.

I had an '80 CJ-7 with the 258-6 and a 4 speed. Bought new in late '79. It was a lot of fun. Swapped out the intake for an Offy Dual Port with a little Carter AFB 4 bbl. Added split headers and dual exhaust. Played with the carb jets and metering rods until I could get 20 mpg rolling down the highway at 60 mph. I churned a lot of mud in that Jeep and went a lot of places. I needed 4 doors, so I upgraded to a Land Cruiser in '90. As much fun as the Jeep was, I might never go back.

If everyone was as agreeable as thør we'd all be driving Jeeps <nods>

You are a "nice" guy...

So "polite"...

So other stuff.

Jeeps!

I can't imagine our CJ got more than 13mpg or so......I bet my TJ doesn't top 15. Who would know since the tires have been the wrong size for the speedgear for longer than it was correct. Also running 4.56 gears. I love it, but I'm possibly selling it because the new Jeep truck will be out next year. Hopefully the truck is right. If not I'll just keep mine.

Just paid for the stove. There's another antique piece I'm looking at an hour south of where the stove is and my girls have agreed to pick it up as well. My two besties rarely get time to see each other and I am beyond excited to fund a road trip for them. They'll have hours of uninterrupted time to chat wth no kids or hubbies to think of. I'm gonna surprise them with a road trip picnic basket and if I can time it right - the blueberry muffins will still be warm when they bite into 'em! I'm so excited and I'm not even going with!

Pffft! *huff* Now what is going to be our macguffin?? For our adventure?? Tiny Dracula dollhouse cannons don't just fall out of the sky everyday you know. You're gonna be warm when I bite into you.

Let's just see if Fiat Chrysler can make anything worth a shit.

What the hell is going on around here?

I go sailing and la Laurelle starts a brand new (forum? thread? what to call it?) thing— and it, apparently, will be subject to censorship based on subjective moderation.

I loved the 232/258/4 Litre Rambler Sixes. Always wondered about parts to make 'em breathe better. That CJ sounds like it was a great ride.

Sad to see the monsters that have succeeded the old Land Crtisers. LOVED them.

I guess you missed the newsletter Mr Trysail.

As for vampire cannons - I had to strike while the iron was hot or miss the boat entirely. The early bird catches the worm! Toll bridges cost extra but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. In these situations -when you're stuck between a rock and a hard place - you've got to shit or get off the pot. It's not rocket surgery after all!

:D

I don't consider the Sube to be an off road or mud trail vehicle.

Right... I should've been more specific.

OUTSIDE of "serious" Jeeps... it appears that FCA's AWD product line is pretty much crap these days. Friend in WV has that Alfa-based Cherokee, and while the fuel's better than her old Equinox... nothing else is.

And NO, I wouldn't take a Forester on anything LIKE a Rubicon Trail. ;)
