could they even make that film nowadays? Big

seeing the reactions of viewers today to the scene with the 'love interest', the implications of his attitude next morning.... kind of 'ew' factored.

today i learned that shopping for desktops at brick and mortar stores is a giant waste of time. still, fuck it. it was something to do.

I believe the third week of August, 1947, was somewhat longer.

[/oggpost]
I remember that week well. Temperatures in the midwest were well over 100 degres, the mosquitoes big as small airplanes, and "The Shadow" was on the radio in the family room.

I do, esp. in the summer. You?

Lemons and I, are on speaking terms. I dare say, I never say no to lemons.

Have you had frozen lemonade? Oh so good in the heat of summer while sitting at Dodger Stadium watching a game, damn baseball needs to stop with the spring training and get on with it.

last day at work tomorrow. it'll feel strange not going in after 5 years there. pub after work with the girls :)

so many customers have been bringing me in little gifts - alcohol, chocolates, nik-naks to remember them by, cards, hugs, kisses.... quite touching, and surprised me

Why is it your last day at work?
At my last job I worked there 30 1/2 years and the last day was the best day ever!

it was in line with my plans for moving to america :) since things are taking a little longer than we hoped, i'll probably do some temp work in the interim.

due to my manager being off for 9 months last year, i didn't get a summer holiday (or extra pay for doing her job as well as my own with barely a day off till i had flu), and consequently they owe me 18 days holiday. if i'd continued working for them past the end of march, i'd have lost those days' pay, since it's the company's policy to use it or lose it, despite the fact they had no one to cover the shop if i'd used them. so... i wasn't prepared to let them get all that extra work from me and still lose 18 days' pay on top of that. i'd not work for them again, though i do have glowing references from them

see my post above :) we're getting there but not there yet. it's kinda been like hill walking... you reach the summit, ready to enjoy the view of the final destination, only to see the next hill looming in front. we have climbing boots. :D
