The Isolated Blurt Thread XXIX: No Whining

The first one you posted was about a young woman inspired to get into politics by Bernie, and mocked, by the article and you, for not knowing the details of conference procedure. I'm not sure that is the best way to encourage young people into the Democratic party, but OK.

If they literally said 'I'll do whatever Bernie says' then of course not voting Clinton would be hypocritical. But it is perfectly possible to respect and admire Bernie's policies, commitment, etc, apart from the man himself, and to understand the political decision he made to support Clinton given the opposition. Others might choose differently, particularly those not under the same enormous pressure he must have been under. I don't suppose anyone seriously believes that he is genuinely excited about Clinton, or trusts her.

But, as I say, if you see all that enthusiasm and idealism and energy as stupid, good luck to you. Such cynicism is often well-rewarded.

I applaud all three people for getting actively involved in the political process. I hope all three will learn a lot from this experience.

If you are going to be a delegate, representing the voters of your state, at a minimum have a basic understanding of convention protocol. You're not handing out flyers on a street corner, you're representing hundreds if not thousands of people. A little research or asking an experience delegate some basic questions goes a long way in supporting their position.

If you agree to be interviewed on national TV, have a coherent reason to disagree with the person you a professing your support to so you don't sound like you're dumb as a bunch of rocks. If you are unable to articulate your position with a mic in front of you and people watching simply decline the interview. Better to be quiet and look smart than to open your mouth and prove you are not.

Listening to Private Investigations right now. What a damn tune.

You know it makes sense — air conditioners are as dangerous as suicide bombers. They must be stopped. Next up, refrigerators…

Here’s a petition you can support: Do it for the children, for the future.

WHEREAS, Secretary of State John F. Kerry has suggested that air conditioners are as big a threat as ISIS, and

WHEREAS, it is the duty of our elected and appointed government officials to lead by example,

Remove air conditioning from all US State Department property.

I have to laugh every time I hear one of these jobless grateful dead followers who support bernie saying they'll vote for someone named Jill Stein with glee in their voices and eyes.

Get a job and go take a shower you hippie.

I'm lost.

lol

I just think these bernie or die people are nuts and theres such a small number of them. The people in the hall are the most hard core supporters he has so you are gonna get all this cryin.

90% of Bernie supporters will vote for Hillary.

The polls tend to confirm that.

Oh you must be talking about Jill Stein.

Our third party candidates are always batshit crazy. Look back through history.

This time we have what should be a third party batshitter this close to the football.

lol

Fuck.

She is literally the only left-wing candidate. By a long, long way. Did she have to be batshit insane? :(

The American Green Party is more than a bit weird. I think the dominance of the two party system has meant that any third party that gains any traction or name recognition at all attracts outright loonies.

You say that as if the two major parties don't. :)
