Family tradition and enjoyment of doing it.

Economically, it's better to go buy a can of Green Giant green beans for a dollar then to can your own. But everyone here has a garden and you get overwhelmed with fresh veggies this time of year. Canning them and passing around what you canned is just part of the culture.

In a few more months we'll be canning deer, rabbit and turkey. And all the apples will be made into apple butter and canned. But not until we can enjoy the psithurism in the Fall.
