the butterflies here are so friendly... whenever i'm out in the gardens i am hosting at least one or two as others come and go. once i was walking around with 6 on me. in the uk the odd one might land then stop a few moments before taking off again. guess these 'merican ones are good ol' country friendly!

Yesterday in Montreal they removed a plaque for Jefferson Davis. It has been on the Hudson Baie building forever.

I see no reason of changing street names, building names or monuments being removed.

It reminds of Québec during bill 101 and that turned out dandy. History, is history and most of it should be preserved. Not all, but most.

In all my years I never heard of anyone complain about Yawkey Way or the naming of Fanueil Hall.

Problem with statues, monuments, parks etc. dedicated to now discredited figures is that they have more than historical value. They get taken as symbols of our social values. I'm of a mind that the residents should be free to determine whatever they will about these anachronisms. But I hope that if there is a physical object involved, like a statue, it will be preserved for historical significance.
