This is true, I have to take my ID. It's to stop all the resales and folks paying hundreds for a ticket. Good ole Kate didn't want to rip her fans off. And she could have got triple what they charged, they sold out in less than 15 mins. All 22 shows. Apparently faster than Beyonce, Madonna and Lady Gaga.

I would imagine so. I also read that during rehearsals she's been doing a lot from Ninth Wave. If she does Jig of Life I will drop dead of joy. My fave track ever.
I'd heard all that about the selling out, and her being so surprised- how completely charming after all these years. The woman still has no idea of her impact on the musical landscape and what she means to people. Talk about a humblebrag!
I hope against hope that you get your Jig of Life moment. Nothing can replace that soaring feeling when you get to hear an artist so dear to your heart do a song that is also so dear. I'm lucky to have had a couple such instances (though not with Kate Bush, obvi) and just remembering the feelings during the performance is enough to make me go wussy-slobbery.

And I shall buy all merchandise even if she does a Hounds of Love dildo!

These tweets (and one retweet) are from my friend Ryan, a journalist who has been on the ground in Ferguson for the past few days. (His Twitter account is here, and it’s a great source of updates on the situation there [x]).

I just wanted to remind everybody that while spreading word about Michael Brown’s unjust murder and the horrifying events of the night of August 14, 2014, please do not oversimplify or ignore the complexities of the situation.

Journalists in the town have been doing what journalists do: focusing on all the negative aspects about the community to try and make it look like a hell-hole in order to sell their own pictures and stories, and basically all many of them want to do is further their own careers. But focusing on all that negativity only paints the picture of one side of the story, ignoring a lot of other important things going on there.

Please do not fall prey to the media’s game. Anger at the actions of the police in Ferguson is totally justified, but in the midst of that we cannot allow the people who are living with the situation every day to be dehumanized. Despite all this tragedy and chaos going on around them, they’re still a community and in many ways they’re pulling through all of it together. They want peace. Anyone looting or burning things down is a very small portion of the community. The whole story is so much bigger.

A story doesn’t need tear gas to be interesting. We need to hear every side of this story, not just the horrific parts.

:heart::heart::heart:

It would be a really quirky dildo knowing her. Probably glow in the dark and barks as gets wetter.

I had the strangest dreams this morning. A client saw all the notes that I made while I was working on Byron's memorial service thing, helped me put them all in a 3 sided manilla folder while having his arm around me. It was so real I could tell you what he was wearing. Then he went out to my garage and found a spring that was making me ill, unburied a nice writing desk and armoire, then after a brief business discussion, he drove away.

So far Byron himself has not been in my dreams, but some remnants of his death now have been. This is only the second dream I have had since he died.

My first Peter Gabriel concert was during the Biko tour. The band all had shaved heads and entered the back of the theater in the dark, holding spotlights, with lighted hearts on springs attached to the right side of their chests. They came in strafing the audience with the lights while slowly heading toward the stage while singing "Biko, Biko, Biko's, Biko."

The guy, my friend and I were in the balcony and about the time the band dropped themselves over the balcony, the guy turns to me and says "This is the last concert I am every going to with you" and I said "good."

I decided at that point that the relationship was pretty much over, although we didn't really break up until an infamous night in a North End restaurant where the wait staff and other patrons were arguing our sides while we sat silent. I think I had gotten out about 10 words out before our waitress took over my side. I was very good and didn't start laughing.

Some my favorites are:

In your eyes

and Games without Frontiers

^Byron's too!^

Bush does a lot of backing vocals on one version of Games Without Frontiers. Think it's a B side to one of his So singles. Lovely version.

I guess I judge men by their music tolerances too ;) Not sure I there are many who would mesh with mine as well as Byron did.

Every once in awhile...my son really ought to listen to me. Contrary to popular belief, I actually do know a thing or two.

I'll bet MY mom would say, "if only I had a dime for every time I said the same thing." :D

IrezumiKiss: I'm appreciative of the Ferguson updates that you've been posting in here, especially this last batch. It's a breath of clean, fresh air after auditing the offerings on the topic in a couple of threads here. Grazie.

Fata Morgana: Please know that I am greeeeeeeen with envy. The first time I bought a Kate Bush record I was a teenager and had never heard of her as such before. I picked up Never Forever and Hounds of Love at a neighbour's yard sale, because I liked the art on the cover of the former, and the guy selling them recommended the latter. I put them on our family's record player as soon as I got home and listened to them both a few times, eventually picking out my favourite songs and dropping the needle by memory, while falling in love forever.

Awww. I'm so fucking thrilled I can't describe it. There will be no sleep for me that night!
