I haven't been to Bombay 's since my band played there and I only go to the sewer before a show across the street. I'm sure we have seen each other.
I only go to either one when a band I want to see is playing. No doubt we've crossed paths.

I knew it was bad, but this is fucking insane. It's a battlefield outside every day for women.
I can't read your tone or intent with your post. Are you listing those to indicate the weren't saying terrible things? Without the men's' tone or, for at least a couple, their proximity, it doesn't sound as menacing. But, did you think that was a comfortable situation?
Those uninvited comments were not welcoming. With two of the guys, I was actually quite nervous for her.

I just stopped myself from starting a political thread. Typed out the opening post and everything.
most of the comments were pretty harmless and, taken in isolations, no big deal. but what a lot of guys don't seem to fathom is the sheer volume. she was dressed in a fairly drab way, so would attract less attention than she might otherwise. it becomes oppressive, just by numbers. when you say 'smile for me, beautiful!', you might be the fifteenth guy that day and it might be wearing pretty bloody thin.
also, it's a no win. if you ignore you're a stuck up bitch. if you engage you're encouraging them. each guy thinks he's a special little snowflake who deserves your response, when in reality he's just one of thousands who will use a similar tactic.
Not even 8 am and I'm already thinking about what's for dinner... The Swedish thread is putting meatballs at the top of the current list.
You so trendy.
Yes, this.
I'm part of now-mom generation who had some unsettling experiences with this as a teen and twenty-something but now experiences very little. My daughters are 11 and 13, though. I wish they could bypass this crap.
my daughter first came home crying at the age of 13, after two friendly guys followed her a short distance in the street, commenting on her body. had she realised how friendly they were, i'm sure she would have been overjoyed. i'm an idiot, because, instead of telling her to get over her butthurt, I told her the world is full of douchebags and there's not a lot can be done about it.Yes, this.
