Mail-in ballot for me. Don't want to deal with the Deplorables in our voting lines on election day.

First time I moved here, I got a come hither by a group outside of a grocery store who was supposedly signing up people for voter registration. They asked me about my party (first clue), then gave me a shit-eating grin when I told them what it was (second grin). I left, and they tore up my application for registration. At the time - and maybe still - this was perfectly legal.

Absentee ballot filled out and ready to return.

Will be hand delivered to the elections office.

Blue top to bottom.

I'm going on election day to cancel out trumps vote for himself. Which as a felon he shouldn't be able to do.

Never mind: looks like it is against the law. (As it should be.)

See similar scenario, below:

My husband and I registered to vote at a registration booth in front of a grocery store. He and I registered under different political parties, and I think I was discriminated against because I did not register with the party that the workers at the booth represented. I never received notice from my county elections official, but my husband did. When I called the county, I was informed that my voter registration form wasn’t turned in until one week before the election. Can they turn my card in late just because I didn’t register with their party?

No, they cannot. Anyone entrusted with turning in a completed voter registration card must, by law, mail or deliver it to your county elections official within three working days or by the registration cut-off date, which is 15 days prior to an election. (Elec. Code, §§ 2138, 18103.) If someone helped you register, that person by law must also sign the form and write their name, address, phone number and the name and phone number of whoever is paying compensation for completed voter registration cards in the space provided. (Elec. Code, §§ 2159, 18108.) Upon registering, you should receive a notification card within three weeks acknowledging that the county elections official has received your voter registration card. (Elec. Code, § 2155.) If you have not received the notification card in that time frame, you should contact your local county elections official or visit My Voter Status. If you are not registered by the 15-day cut-off date, you can also conditionally register and vote up to and including on Election Day; for more information you can contact your county elections official or visit Same Day Voter Registration.

Voted in person and doing daily shifts as a GOP greeter at my local polling station
Sorry, I didn't mean to be so negative about it or denigrate your volunteering. It was just really annoying today to have them all basically blocking my way into the polls all shoving things in my face.

I will offer up my opinion - I think it's better to work as a poll worker than a party worker.

So my experience today - we went over around 3pm and the line was out the door. Party volunteers were swarming the parking lot, generally making it difficult to park and also to make our way to the line, which annoyed the fuck out of me.

Once inside, the county has Issue 1 amendment language/full text on the wall for voters to read on their way in, which I really enjoyed. I've been reading it over and over all week and it was nice to have it there to review. I ended up not voting either way as I just don't see how it address the problems with the previous two ones we passed....and in some ways it makes it worse. I do enjoy that it forces a redraw in 2025....I doubt it would end up being done in time though...which was the issue on the last one.

Ticket wise - I am ready for the state Congress to go, so voted appropriately. Brown, of course and the Democrat for the house.

Supreme Court I ended up voting split. I also noticed that the parties were listed this time, which I think is new. I kinda like it...kinda don't.

And the rest were 1 candidate races, which I never vote for regardless of the candidate.

Upon exiting, four of the pamphlet volunteers decided to just hang out in the middle of the parking lot, blocking my entire path to exit, so I ended up waiting for them to realize I existed and finally realized they were in my way.

Fuck situational awareness.....right?

Early in person voting starts here on the 21st. I'll be in line at the courthouse. As a lifelong independent who has voted for both Rs and Ds, I'll be voting a straight ticket again this year. And for the foreseeable future.

It’s legal in my state and both parties have greeters in front. Nobody is blocking people’s way or being aggressive. Voters are politely offered a Republican or Democratic recommendations. That’s it. Most folks happily take one, either from the Republicans or the Democrats, and sometimes one of each.

Obviously most people who vote early already know who they’re voting for, so few if any minds are changed. However, many voters with strong party affiliations appreciate seeing volunteers from their respective parties at the polls. Voters who want yard signs and/or bumper stickers can get them by walking over to outdoor booth for their party.

I’ve been enjoying the conversations, learning what’s on people’s minds, and meeting fellow Republicans.

It's legal in my state as well. There were five there today and all of them had zero situational awareness. They were blocking the lanes in the parking lot, not on purpose but because they were carrying on conversations without paying attention to the flow of traffic.

I don't think any party specific people should be allowed in the parking lot of the polling place regardless of how far from the entrance they are.

All in all, that is what the party offices are for.

As I edited in my original comment - I think poll workers are preferential to party workers.

Sent in my absentee ballot last week. Got confirmation yesterday that it has been delivered.

I'm gonna try to vote early, if I can. If that fails, I will come back and try again.

I have to wait for day-of to share my experience.

Then again, pretty old-school in my voting philosophy.

The OG opinion, a privilege and sacred duty, a trust with fellow citizens.
Not a right, but a shared, secular, uniting public rite
(slightly less brutal than the DMV).

Outside of clear and understandable duress and circumstance (as in where abortion should be): it's personal.

It's like a wedding: a public affirmation and acknowledgment.
I go with my neighbors and support the Republic,
by choosing representation
in a duality.

A unique duality.
A secular rite performed both publicly and privately.
The congregation, the ritual virtual display and then the confession.

The one that is between you and your Fathers,
Intellectually unless your founder is Marx.
Marx bares and reduces all equally.

Then again, I'm a Stranger in a Strange Land, rural redneck America where the voting line is like a fence line,

I'm not one to go around repeating gossip,
so you better listen up close the first time.
y'heah?

Fun. Fun. Fun.

I'm driving my own T-bird, and no one can take it away,
unless they pry the wheel from my cold, dead, hands.
Life. Liberty. Property.
I vote FOR!

Texas makes it damned near impossible to vote absentee for both White OR Non-white unless you are over the age of 75, so it's early voting or stand in line for 5+ hours on election day.

Normally early voting would start on October 14th and run through November 3rd, but in 2020 too many egro-Nays voted early so the legislators in their infinite White patriarchal wisdom decided to lop ten days off of early voting. My regular election-day voting place is unavailable for early voting (understandable, it's an elementary school), but my usual early voting place, a nearby Muslim mosque, is "not available" this year. So I'll venture up into "Trump country" and vote early on October 21st.

Oh and I got a "push poll" on my cell phone last night that ended up being a thinly disguised advertisement for Eduardo Rafael "Ted" Cruz!

Just talked to my friend who worked the polls. She said around 2500 voters yesterday I early voting with a large portion of younger voters. (Population of the county is approx 250k)

Just seemed high to me. Not inferring anything from that
