I recently learned that while cephalopods only have one vision cone in their eyes, the shape of their pupils might actually give them color vision.

I did not know that about their lack of multiple cones. Given the color displays they can all produce with their chromophores, I would have expected outstanding color vision

Yep, going theory is that the shape of their pupils is what gives them that color vision.

Actually I tried that as a pickup line in the bar "Hey baby, wanna play with my eggs?" and oddly, all it ever got me was a slap in a face. Maybe they were all allergic to eggs.
