For a brief moment...I loved you............it's over, thanks

I am the bride's father whose daughter didn't think I'd be concerned that her one and only bridesmaid had just come out as a lesbian.

She was right. My daughter's and daughters' friends are welcome as friends, just because they are friends.

Her bridesmaid and partner had to stay with us the night before the wedding because the bridesmaid's mother had banned her from the parental home. The partner was unmentionable.

I'm not sure that this deserves to be included in this thread. What is unusual about parents accepting their daughters' choice of friends?

Isn't that fatal?

I am the guy who went out with two co-worker/friends/lesbians one night to a lesbian bar and never danced more or had as much fun ever.

Or who would go to their house for a home cooked meal, and sit through Personal Best each time.

I'm the guy who suffered good naturedly through work days someone designated "breeder bashing days".

I am the woman who used to grease up the gay strippers in the dressing room at a gay bar because they didn't want the guys touching them and they assumed I was a lesbian. My friend Joe kept ratting me out, that bitch. Anyway, they gave me an "honorary gay" card so I didn't have to keep having the "You're a BREEDER? No way! You seem so cool!" talk. There was a new stripper every week!

ooo!!!OOO!!!
I'm the guy who went to "The Works" (Gay bar in NYC...with a dripping faucet logo) with my gay co-worker friend...and checked out the BW homo-erotic photo show there...and the guys. I might have been checked out , myself...but I'm kinda dense that way or just unattractive to the guys there...shrug.

That's not being big enough, but being rational enough to admit that others may like/enjoy what you don't. It is being human enough to accept others as they are and not as you wish they were.

Ogg,

Of course it deserves to be here, and I salute you. You have shown that not only are you human but you are rational and compasionate. Again I salute you.

Cat

To answer your question, what is unusual is a parent accepting their daughters choice of friends even if those friends do not follow the accepted norms.

Have no idea where that is.
It was in south-east TN.

I am the woman, after holding my gf's hand and kissing her in above described Wal-Mart, looked into the eyes of a gawker and asked "Got a problem? This ain't for sale."

Just so ya know. I am in South East Tn.

I am the woman who clapped after you made that statement ! ;)

I am the woman who lets her gay cousin stay anytime, and everytime she calls, even when both ex-hubbys had conniption fits.

I am the woman who says *fuck you to anyone who says anything about my daughter staying all night with gay cousin and her partner.

I am the woman who cares about and loves my cousin, when she was *thrown out * of the family because she is gay. Even when her own mother questioned me, I stood tall and told her, she my cousin, like my sisiter, she is blood ... family, and I love her. ! Stuff it.
