The (Human) Pet Thread

Excellent thread everyone!:) So far it's content, makes for some very interesting, thought provoking reading. I have been thoroughly enjoying it.

I asked for more control, if he wanted to give it, in my blog the other day. Since I wrote it, we haven't had a chance to really talk about it. (Schedule conflicts, death in his family, etc.) He did tell me he loved the blog, but that's about all he's had time to say about it. I think the crafty old bastard has just been sitting back and waiting for me to say it, actually.

He said we'd talk some tomorrow afternoon, and he's coming to spend the day with me Saturday. (She's visiting a friend out of state this weekend, so he's going to come hang out with me.)

I guess I'll find out soon enough if this was a good idea or not.

The puppy play story that I have been writing has taken me in so many directions as far as research is concerned. I have found what must be one of the oldest websites still in use, thedoghouse.org full of wonky outmoded coding and what might best be called... 'documents of historical interest'

The process of turning oneself into a dog is really fun to write. I am in the third chapter and haven't even gotten close to the sex scenes; that's totally a record for me!

Oh yeah, speaking of pet play.. and dogs in particular - we just bought a prong collar!

It should be arriving at the end of the week, and I'm really excited to try it out! We're going to use it as a training collar, though I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to be trained in yet.

hmm...

I did find a very good ponyplay site, http://equuseroticus.com
there are two articles about adapting horse gaits for human ponies, and I was thinking something like that for dogs...

He's probably thought of this already, but -

I would try that out on a non-jugular part of the body, before placing it around anybody's neck. Sure, it doesn't harm a dog, but the dog's got fur.

Put it on his own upper arm and check out the effect of varying tugs. Something like that.

Yes, we already thought of this.

A friend of mine got one the other week and tried it out on himself (his neck) and said that no matter how hard it was yanked on it didn't hurt a super lot, and that he got nowhere near to even making a bruise.

We also found a study of the harmful effects of choke collars v. prong collars on dogs, and I don't remember the exact numbers, but some majority of the dogs with the choke collars had permanent damage done, and only one dog with the prong collar had any damage.

So, I feel pretty confident.

Also, how much can fur protect from prongs that go through the fur and onto the skin, anyway?

Indeed, those things can hurt like hell!

The leeburgh link had that little video, and the guy is saying that the prong collar is like "power steering for dogs" but there is something that is even more so;

I kinda like the idea of adding a leash to a head harness... In fact...

yum.

Depends on the thickness of the fur.

I would never use either choke or prong collars on an actual dog (they're lazy man, dickhead training modes)... but for a consenting human, I say: Have fun.

Jesus, people are cruel. To dogs, I mean.

On a consenting human, I agree - that could be hot!
Well, it isn't what you are used to seeing on a dog, but I disagree that they are cruel to the dog-- any more than a prong collar is, or a pen, or obedience training.

You don't need any of those things for obedience training. That's where I'm coming from here.

I just want to say how thrilled I am that this thread is still up and running :) Pet stuff = the best stuff.

Check out the results though, these ponies are in their element!

I've looked into pony play before, and every once in a while I revisit it and think that it might be something I'd be interested in. If given the chance, I would probably try it out, but I know that as soon as I was told to trot or some such thing my most likely response would be, "you trot, motherfucker."

So, I'm not sure it's really for me :p

heh, yeah. But that's true for real horses, too. They have to be given a reason to want to perform for you-- at least so I am told, not being a horse person by nature!

Speaking for myself, I would need a lot of reassurance that I was doing well, what with not having that kind of dexterity -- and that's the point of this kind of play, IMO, the total concentration of the trainer on the pony. In those performance shots, it's the sub totally showing off -- "look what I can do! Look at my trainer, he only has eyes for me!"

And I can't blame him, really.

Yeah, that's true. Thinking about pony play, the way you explain it, makes it seem more appealing than the way I sometimes imagine it ("okay, now run in circles for a while in the sun. But wait, you're not wearing enough heavy leather yet! Hold on, let me climb onto you back..." GROAN). But if I think about it more as just doing well for my person and making him proud of me, which is something that I already try to do (if not quite so elaborately), I could probably get into it.

Like I said, if given the opportunity, I would probably try pony play, but I'm not sure when I would get that chance, and I don't think it's something I would actively seek out.

Actually, those are called "gentle leaders" and it's what the vets I worked for used to recommend for people having difficulty training their dogs, especially the big ones that pulled a lot while walking.

It is not a muzzle. It does not impair breathing, barking, eating or drinking. It is the most humane training collar available. And it is remarkably effective.

Shall we market it for kids? That was a rhetorical question.

Again, my point is, you don't need a training collar for training a dog. And if the dog is too big for the owner to handle, that's a separate issue right there.

To bring this back to the human pet point of the thread... Syd, do you envision dog role play for your training with the prong collar, or will it be used as just another accessory for restraint/coercion, with you as you?

No, I doubt this will be used for dog role play, maybe we'll use it that way for some short term fun as a scene or something, but not in the long run. Last night Seb and I were discussing how we might use it, and it seems like it will be used for training, but with me as me :)
