Alright so I have started some trouble with my GOD thread, thought I could spread the wealth. So if you want to hash it out, scream at the injustice or just bitch about the Man. You have come to the right place, let the Great Debate begin!

Lets start small..
I am an Arizona resident, (yes the governor is an idiot, i did not vote for her)
We have recently be in the spotlight for the immigration issue, if you do not know what I am talking about then you do not know enough to debate this issue.
Between Arpio and the Gov. we are tearing apart families and forever changing lives.
To deport or not deport, that is my question. Will it do any good or just employ more bullies as cops?

What's wrong with enforcing the laws we already have?

That is not what the issue has been. Do they have the right to walk up to you on the street and make sure that you are legal? Holocaust anyone? Its a dangerous road to start down, when does it stop, who says it is enough?

Yes our laws give our police and border patrols the authority to stop illegals or to send them home, but children have been pulled out of school. their parents deported but records made it clear they were illegal while their children were not.

I agree that something has to be done, up until now American has had one of the loosest border policies in the world, and it should, that is why it began in the first place.

Is this really the only way to do it though??

IMO tossing the word Holocaust around is a little inflamatory. I dont think Arizona was gassing or killing people for being illegal aliens. I must have missed that part of the law. Was it really in there?

Why are we blaming the victim? Our borders were the loosest so its our fault? Holy look at the way we were dressed batman, we were just asking for it.

I have no issues with people immigrating to America. I want them to contribute to our society just like I do. I want them to work, pay taxes, abide by our laws etc. Why should people who shortcut the system be given benefits because they chose not to abide by the laws that everyone else has to follow? The everybody else was doing it defense doesnt work for me.

Not what I said in the slightest but, ok. Inflammatory, no I don't think so.
The first step was forcing the Jews to carry ID cards that allowed them to live in places they had been for generations.

And really the rest of that was out of left field Dear.

I think they should all be given a chance, if they want to be Americans then do it. I think most of them men who are sent back should be given the option to enlist. I think if they want to be teachers they should get an automatic pass, we need all we can get. I think if we open the options to those who truly just want to live then we will find that the problems make themselves scarce.
Send all the convicts home, no matter what country that home may be.
But thats just me.

Thank you Air!!!
Exactly right:kiss:

but when are they going to DO something.

You know as much as I disagree with the entire thing, I do understand the fear here. For many of us it comes down to one problem. The federal government hands SOME of our neighbors a check for producing children, if you are Native all sorts of benefits are yours by birth. When immigrants come in and need help they get emergency benefits. I am white, by coloring at least,my husband and I both work very hard, I have children to feed too. Why is my need less?

How ever ridiculous it is to single out one people to blame our problems on, I do understand the fear.

Thank you all for the Debate, tune in next time;)

Lighten Up

Alright lets lighten the mood here.
New question:

British Television, who loves it, who hates it. What do you watch??

I love my BBCA shows, thoroughly and happily addicted to my dear Doctor. Recently turned on to Primeval, it's good fun. then of course, if you love the Doctor you have to try out Torchwood and the Chronicles of Sarah Jane Smith.

I discovered Monty Python and Faulty Towers as a child, (yes I know that explains alot) and have loved british humor ever since

Side note: you guys have much better ideas on what should be censored than we do.;)

I love it but mostly those shown on PBS.... Good Neighbors, As Time Goes By, To The Manor Born, Vicar of Dibly, Keeping Up Appearances... and I can't remember the name but the one where the guy plays the son of Death and cannot take the lady of the house, but instead ends up working in her household.

Sorry I'm late to the debate, Angel.

I've read the bill passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor. It is very clear that law enforcement must have probable cause. Cops will not be able to just walk up to people and demand identification. But law enforcement has always had the right to ask anyone for ID in the in the pursuit of an investigation. Even if that investigation is for a broken tail light. We were recently pulled over at Grand Canyon for a burned out front running light. Not even a headlight. Everybody in the car was asked to provide ID. The point is this; if I had no proper ID and I were in the country illegally, should the law enforcement officer who pulled us over just turn a blind eye to me and let me go?

Whether the law is upheld or stricken is now in the hands of the courts. But what Jan Brewer did do is bring the national spotlight on a problem that has up until now been very much ignored by the federal authorities that are supposed to enforce immigration law.

I, personally had hoped Jan would veto SB 1070, but I understand now the political stakes were too high. She is running for Governor and this has become the hot-button issue that has put her in the lead. Whether you agree with it or not, her strategy worked and she probably will be elected Governor in November because of SB 1070.

The only British show I've ever really enjoyed is Mony Python's Flying Circus. I do like British movies though.

mmmm I'm liking the direction of your thread Angel

lmao, they were supposed to be debating British TV, but ok. :D
The problem with this question is there is not a differing opinion.

So here is a new one. Bondage, do you like to be tied? Or do the tying? Can't go near it?

I'll go first. I've done the tying, liked it a lot, especially when she asked me to tie her up. Then she got loose

I've never been tied up. But I'd like to try it with the right person...
