I've just started a new story based on one of my 750 word submissions; Drinking Scotch, Making Wishes. Not sure what I'm going to call it just yet, but I've only begun and it's twice as long as its inspiration.

This got me to wondering, which of your 750 word stories have inspired longer tales. I know @onehitwanda has done one: Midnight's Daughter. It's already on my favorites list. But what about the rest of you?

Tell us why you chose to make a longer version and share a link to both, so we can enjoy your talent.

The 750s are a beast, a wonderful writing exercise, but impossibly short to make a satisfying story.

I've done only one of your aberrations, extremely rare for me to swim in incest-infested waters. But the snippet demanded a proper finish...

750 word Uncle Quim Comes to Town, then Quiminal Intent.

I have three 750 word stories but one inspired my longest story here.

In the first, Perchance, a highwayman stops the coach of a minor nobleman's daughter on a lonely stretch of road. He is surprised when she asks to keep her late mother's gold locket.

The background story and more is told from the young woman's perspective in A Wedding in Wottfordshire. Catherine, the maid of honor at her cousin's wedding, believes she's in love with the highwayman so she sets out to find him while trying to keep her cousin's wedding from falling apart. It's a fun and very researched regency period tale of lust and love and errors, and it actually turned out to be longest story on Lit to date at over 44K words. At the time the results were announced, it was somewhere around 4th to 6th in score in the 2023 Summer Lovin' contest, making it one of my highest scoring stories.

I expanded "Pavlov's Dog - 750 Words" into "Raging Hormones" at 5.5K words.

In the 750-word version, the husband is angrily awaiting his wife's return from fucking a boyfriend. In the hormones story, she starts out uninterested in her husband for sex, and she discovers hormone pellet treatments to increase her libido to please her husband. Be careful what you wish for!

BTW, Pavlov's dog was my lowest rated story at 2.23, and Hormones is 3.02 (both in Loving Wives).

Another one I expanded was "Interviewing a Date - 750 Words", which became "Abuse Addict" at 6.9k words.

These are also in Loving wives. The story is a woman who is looking for the right guy, one who can watch her in a gangbang. Abuse Addict is the guy whose first wife was manipulative and ignoring his needs, and he hooks up with
the perfect woman, one who says she'll grant his every sexual wish, as long as he can give her just one day per month when he must sit back with a drink in hand and watch her gangbang. She just wants to find the right guy who doesn't judge her, and making him sit back and watch is her test.

A Girl on the Bus

Started out in a 750 Word Anthology, then I set off in a deliberate experiment to see how long readers would follow a slow build-up before a full erotic pay off. Six chapters, then a two chapter sequel - one of the first Covid stories on Lit, a few months later.

I just remembered another 750-word story that became something more.

It started out as a 750-word story about a guy who tries to help a woman who had caught her husband cheating. A second 750-word story gave more from the woman's perspective as she wanted to strike back. Then, an 8,700-word story was told from the cheating husband's perspective. With two of the three stories being in Loving Wives and the cheating scumbag being a scumbag, they are my lowest rated stories.
