The GB Memorial Thread

I am very sorry to say that deehere passed away on Monday, October 16th. I will miss her sunny disposition and her lust for new and interesting recipes to create. She was a rare bird that always had something nice to say or encouraging words to offer.

RIP deehere. :rose:

Oh no. I read that she was sick. So sorry. :rose:

I'd gotten mention about Dee's passing in private a while ago. Although we had mad fun earlier this spring at a Lit meetup here in the city, other people knew her better and longer than I did, so thought it appropriate someone else gave notice when they felt it was time.

You can have all the sparkling sake you want now, Dee.

deehere

A bright spot, in a darkening world, on Earth.

A light shining in the sky, to remember her by.

I never knew her well, but what I remember was a kind person here. The older I get the more I realize how rare that truly is. I'm very sorry to hear that she is no longer with us. Rest easy, Dee. ⚘

I had very little interaction with Dee, just a bit, but she must have been one heck of a person as her loss has touched so many that I am close to here.

Rest in peace, Dee. :rose:

I remember seeing her post time to time but did not know her. RIP.

Dhalgren150 passed away this August, for those who knew him. I met him while he read tarot cards on the PG every Saturday evening here for what feels like years.

He did? How sad.
That explains why I haven't heard from him. I thought maybe it was the fog of my flare.
The drunken druid...
Will have to pass that on.

I had heard about Dee earlier in the week. Very sad.
I liked her alot, and we PMed back and forth over the time she was here.
She was also a fellow Al Stewart fan and there was stuff related to that.

I read through this thread, and even though I did not know any of the people listed, it gave me a sense of the GB as a community with a rich history.

My heart goes out to those of you who did know them and feel their loss.

She was like that. She read everything, but rarely commented publically. She seemed more comfortable on the board this last year. She would send me notes about this or that or ask for a recipe or offer one. I don't even remember how we made contact initially but I think it was an out-of-the-blue p.m. from her. Something I said was gave her an (accurate) guess about my family. Despite the great distance and sharing no geography we had surprisingly similar upbringings.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that so many others knew her behind the scenes. I think that was her preferred method of participating.

I wouldn't have thought she was likely pass so young. I know a bit about where her beliefs lie and I hope her expectations about the afterlife are warmly fulfilled.

We pm'd years and years ago. He lived in Ohio if I remember correctly. RIP.

I will add deehere and Dahlgren150 to the list. I didn't know them, but my condolences to those who did.

I'd ask folks to take a look at the first post in the thread and let me know if there is anyone else who should be added.

he got sick a while back - an infection he was never able to fully shake. it forced him into retirement. the last time we spoke, he said they may have to amputate, then I didn't hear back from him again.

that he did. the hills of ohio, surrounded by walnut trees and his roses.

Thank you for sharing this. It's encouraging that there remains a few shreds of civility in our former community, here. :rose:

I've been away from the BB for awhile, and odds are, will stay only as a an occasional "lurker".

But this isn't about me - it's about Dee. She was a lovely woman who faced many health challenges with a positive attitude. It was an honour to have been her friend.

I think there are still plenty of good people here. I just think they tend to keep quieter than they used to.
