The Frugal Dominant

it was just another Sunday ... cold, damp (snow in May? gag me!) ... family matters to attend to, a bit of e-mail from work to answer, errands to attend to

my second stop had me at Menards (a Home Depot clone to those not in the Upper Midwest) ... five minutes of searching for something to lift the front porch up an inch or two had me in the work working aisle (wrong place for the jack I found in automotive but then there would be nothing to write about!)

there what did my wandering eyes catch site of but Irwin 1.5" Quick Grips ... $4 a pair ... ratchet controlled with almost minute steps in tightening ... swivel heads that grip VERY well ... quick release trigger ... they were not on the list but they are now in my bag

oh, they work ... they work very nicely

so friends and neighbors, what other suggestions are there for the frugal Dominant? my best finds have come from the likes of Menards and the local marine supply house (terrific stainless steel fasteners and the most affordable cordage in my part of the universe)

everyone share ... there is no one to be alarmed but our favorite subs

I know what you mean...

We often find ideas and or toys in the local home improvement center, or any other store Master walks into. I think it is becoming a game for him to see how many different objects for which he can find alternative uses.
Master has a pair of clamps similar to yours but the head does not swivel. Great toys indeed!
He is working on making a flogger from one of the older style string mop heads. I will let you know how it turns out.

the swivel heads are a terrific engineering advance LOL and they do add substantially to the grip of the little things ...

I will be curious about the flogger ... my two favorites are by far the most expensive items I have purchased - almost to a point that I might consider harvesting my own deer and developing skills as a tanner!

Mmmm, now I know of one who has done this and used everything including the bone for knifemaking. :) ...and I would say in much the same area as you seem to be living in.

which each year that turns I feel a deeper need to return to the basic skills of life ... I will likely never master or even attempt many of them but my appreciation for what is required to sustain and nurture not just the body but also the soul grows exponentially

too many years living in glass towers, commuting in steel tubes and conducting "commerce" in a way that excludes the individual and the sacred

this is one aspect of maturity that I find youthful!

With this I can identify 100%. http://www.flip-logtenberg.net/peace/peace02.gif

Shall we then call the making of pervertables at Menards...

inconspicuous consumption?

"you'll save more money, you'll save more money, when you shop Menards"

damn you Sir to the lowest circle of Hell as that jingle will NOT leave my mind ...

but I forgive you :) and suggest that it is not so much inconspicuous consumption as it is a rare case where the engineers may have beaten the price system (The Engineers and Price System - a dandy pamphlet the professor wrote concerning the advent of modern "management")

<-- Netzach.

Sir?

I didn't think I was still that butch.

Thanks though. LOL.

cc: I take it you wear only plastic shoes?

Ideas are best when shared!

Most of our ideas come from seeing stuff on blowfish.com - we want them, but can't afford them, so we improvise. I make ribbon floggers now (seen on b-fish) ... I'm working on getting the straps for an over-the-door bondage set to work (seen on b-fish) ... um ... I can't remember what else we made after seeing it there. the home-made spreader bar is too easy ... um ... we've made other random stuff ... cuffs & all that ...

the experimentation is a good part of the fun! I have had good luck recently with C clamps mounted on a door frame cushioned with old socks ... amazing holding strength and no marks on the wood work ... but when I feel like splurging I go over to West Marine and browse the sail handling aisle

what I'm working on is a bar that the straps are around, then hung on the other side of the door ... no marks on the door, and if the door isn't all that sturdy, get a bar that is longer than the door is wide so that the frame supports it - problem is that I don't have fabric that I feel is stong enough to hold the boy yet ... have to go shopping again ...

without being overly inquisitive, what sort of weight are you looking to support? and are you securing or truly supporting??

there are some wonderful options out there ....

350+ when you account for struggling as we tease him beyond his control. Mostly, we want to just secure ... he's way too tall for suspension from a door.
