The Fall Classic

Why would anyone HATE a team?

Stupid human tricks, that's why.

I'm so old - I'm a Senators fan. Senators who? I heard that.

So I had to become a B-more fan - go Cal! O! O! O's!

B-more fans hate, hate, hate the fuckin' pin striped yo-yo's of Mr. George M. Steinbrenner. And most hate the man - Steinbrenner - the boss - even worse than they hate the team or the Bronx.

Then.......... I got transferred to NYC. And for a good year and a half - I still hated'em.

Then I started getting free tickets and invites to the games - both Yanks and Mets.

You know - it's all fucking baseball - it's all the same. Yeah sure there are differences in Stadiums (Camden Yards is awesome, the Vet in Philly blows dead rats) - different local food and beer prices (what a fucking rip) but no matter what the state of the societal culture of the modern baseball fan is - it's still just baseball and it's the same wherever you get to enjoy it.

Yep - became a Yanks fan - Derek lives on my block - brings hot babes in the same bar I suck ribs and swill the golden elixir. He's a good guy.

And I've become a Mets fan too - it's fun getting the train over there to Queens for a change of pace.

So, if it comes down to it - Yanks or Mets? This year I will go for the Mets. Ya gotta root for the team that has not been there for a while. The Yanks have made enough history the past few years. Mets turn.

Besides, as much as I like the Yanks - I still fucking hate George Steinbrenner.

And c'mon - who out there really can't like steely eyed Joe Torre? The Mafia Manager of our dreams?

PS - and man is B-more ever become a fucked up team - the farm team of both leagues.

I know, Deborah, I had a pretty good feeling about that game, but I learned a long, long time ago to never bet on the home team. Too much emotional attachment....

Ya know what I'm thinking this week? I thinking the Steelers got a really good shot at losing to the Cincy Bungles. This Steeler team just looks to me like they play down to the level of whoever they're playing, and you can't play down any lower than the Bungles. Now that we've lost whatever hopes we had of landing Drew Brees next Spring, I've got a feeling that the Steelers will find another way to break my heart this Sunday. Just something to watch for.

Now, if you want to see something cool, check out Britannica.com's "The Annotated Dennis Miller"... I can just hear people out there going, "Ahhhhh.... That's what that was....." already.

Btw, baseball season's not over yet?? Sure feels like it...
