Currently I am obsessing over my new phone. I just bought a Blackberry Curve 8310. There is a little saga behind it, but I think I will actually get to start playing with it tonight! I like to play with new shiny toys, but I have been obsessing with it a little too much...forgot about an assignment that was due today. Fortunately when I asked for an extension, the teacher said "oh sure, you're doing great in this class, no problem."

I like my computer. I don't like little gadgets that do many things. Makes me feel like a cranky old lady.
 
I found out this afternoon that a good friend of mine killed herself last week. Fortunately her ex-wife managed to log into her LJ and tell us about it. I am reading my friend's LJ from the beginning (mid-2003) to the end. I really liked her a lot, she had a LOT of mental problems (bipolar, PTSD, DID, and more) and she was deaf-blind but things were looking up for her. A couple of other friends have told me they thought things were looking up, too. Her ex-wife didn't give any information about what happened...I don't know if there was a note, or how it was done, or anything. I'm really going to miss her.

Damn, Etoile, I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, as well as the other friends and family of your friend Julia. It is tragic when someone ends their life like that, when others see the light at the end of the tunnel but the one lost in the darkness can not.

And I know exactly what you mean about feeling like Eeyore. :(

I am sorry to hear about Julia. So sad.
Suicide is so horrible, and it leaves everyone wondering what they could have done to avoid it. Its effect ripples out like waves in a puddle after a stone is dropped in.

I know the Eeyore feeling. Its been a bad past year here, lots of death. I wrote 3 condolence cards to friends losing partners/spouses just in the past month. Another one is supposed to be gone soon, but at the moment she is here and a bit better. The is a bit scary as most of the people I have known with terminal illness have felt much better right before the end.
