The Etoile Thread

Hey, this is also a good thread to come post in when I don't want to disrupt stuff in the blurt thread!

Like right now, when I am going to say that I am really sleepy but I want to get finished with LiveJournal before I go to bed because the alarm goes off at 5:00 and the cab comes at 5:30 - hey wait. It's 3:20. I don't have time for sleep at all, do I?

*hugs* I'll be back feeling silly, I'm sure.

Yes, it will make you wince. So take the following and paste it into the decoder box here if you really want to know. (Those of you who can read ROT13 as if it were plaintext should avert your eyes right about now.)

OMG!

I did that years ago (1990 to be precise) I spent an entire evening sitting in a basin of cold water.

I feel for you, really I do

Have a hug and make sure that when it is fully healed you stroke it nicely to make it feel better

Hey Etoile,

Just wanted to drop in and say I've really been enjoying your posts lately!

And sorry to hear about your, er, mishap. That sounds like it would hurt!

:) Syd

A random question.....well....not so random, but I was just wondering how did you get interested in becoming a sign language interpreter?

Oh, and really sorry to hear about your mishap.......glad it's erm...better, for better wording!

Yay, a question! I started learning ASL when I was 4 years old from a babysitter. By 2002 I was quite fluent but I didn't do a whole lot with it. I lost my job in the computer industry and a friend suggested I could try applying at an interpreting agency. (We have tons in the Washington DC area.) So I did, and they hired me! Unfortunately I didn't know enough at the time to realize that I had no ethics training or anything like that, so I kind of scraped through the best I could. Things have gotten a lot better since my rocky beginning, but it was rough there for a while! I'm now fully certified (we have two in the old system, the new system only has one, but I have both of the old ones and I don't plan to get the new one) and I really love interpreting. It requires virtually no paperwork and it fits great with my ADHD because I don't have to retain anything I interpret!

I am bumping my own thread because I can! We are now doing the fun wait in line part of getting on the cruise. Whee!

I am so sorry for your your little pink bits! I was using one of those braun epilady hair removal systems once which are only supposed to be used on "taught skin".... I guess that I was a little over zealous because i got the skin caught between the little tweezer pincher things!!! Ouch!!! And I had no-one to kiss it all better for me!

So, to keep the questions going....

What do you think will be the best part of your upcoming celebratory cruise? And it would be great to know when you get back what really was the best part.

Well, I know the food is going to be great! I think the best part will be...visiting places I haven't been before. Namely Aruba, Dominica, and Bonaire. Especially Aruba. I think Aruba will be the best part of the trip. :)

Ooh! A cruise! Awesome! :)

The food tends to be spectacular on cruises. Thank God for all the stairs on them too. Of course most have a work out facility.

Tip: If you like to drink buy a duty free bottle of booze at the shop on board. Though mixers are hard to find, other than fruit punch and soft drinks cost extra as well. Mix drinks in your cabin for a fraction of the cost the bar will charge.

Aruba is tiny! There are beautiful beaches there. You can also go to a place that has a black sand beach.

There are some cave paintings that you can see as well.

Of course there is gambling there but there is also gambling on the ship.

A cruise sounds lovely.......warmth, no work, no kids, lots of food. Workout room? I think not. Enjoy!

And the epilady and the pink bits? OWWWWWW!

This is our 5th cruise, and we always bring our own booze - rum and vodka look innocent if you put them in water bottles! Cruise ships NEVER let you bring what you buy in their shop back to your room, maybe they did long ago but these days they never ever do that. They hold it until the end of the trip and then you are allowed to pick it up. And yeah, fruit punch or juice is our usual mixer! I think this is the first time I am not buying a soda card. We decided I just don't drink enough per day for it to be worth it. If I want a soda, we'll pay the $2.50 (or whatever) to get one individually. Oh, and prices seem to have gone up on drinks! We were looking at the listing earlier and the "frozen drink of the day" is now $9, other mixed drinks are $7-10, I am pretty sure it's gone up a couple bucks!

The workout room...I am kind of with Rosie on this one. Although I am going to TRY to be good and go at least once or twice. ;) But yeah, you can eat anytime you want, it's great! ;) I love Celebrity because their vegetarian menu is the best on the seas, at least in my experience.

Congratulations on your 10,000th post. I haven't read them all, but all I've read have been worthy of my time. Enjoy your cruise. The Lido deck is my favorite spot in the whole world.

I doubt she'll be posting much from the cruise that cost a good bit. We did a little e-mail mostly so I could find out my baby kitties were doing well. I can't relax on a trip if I don't hear from my cat sitter the first day!

:rose:

Oh, I'm here! It costs 38 cents/min but I'm here! In theory I bought the internet package so I could do schoolwork, but here I am on Lit. ;)

Hommy, I had heard about the HK MMORPG years ago, and I signed up to be on their early-notification list. Then a year or so ago, I signed up AGAIN. Then just now I start hearing that they've opened the beta. I never got the notification! But I signed up ONE MORE TIME for good measure...
