What will we remember obama for? Bad leader? Socialist? Man that played too much golf. The man that was focused on family vacations regardless of the costs to the American Tax Payer

Insuring 30 million Americans by making them pay for their own healthcare and not getting a free ride. Causing sick people to be covered. Slowing the catastrophic rise in medical costs. Aligning the economic incentives of the provider with the payor to stop unnecessary tests and procedures driving up the cost of care. Driving towards evidence based medicine and remuneration based on outcomes to improve population health.

And we will probably also remember him for ushering in an unprecenteded wave of global drone-assinations.

Being pre. stompy-feet and getting to take super-fun trips and play with celebrities at the White House playground!

Don't be so hard on him.......it is hard for a child to have to learn to be an adult so quickly. :D

Yes. Individuals under 65 years of age with income below 133 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL) will be eligible for Medicaid. A small number of the 30 million insured fit this category. Everybody else has to buy insurance, or basically the insurance will be bought for you in the form of tax penalties.

If you are in a household of up to 100-400% of the federal poverty line, (about $11,500-$46,000 for an individual and $23,000-$94,000 for a family of four in 2013) then yes you get assistance with part of the insurance premium. But you still have to pay a part of it out of your own pocket.

I think that helping working people to stay working rather than making it better for them and their children to stop working and go on Medicare is good public policy. Making them pay a share is good public policy. Insured Americans is good public policy. With all your carping about "welfare" then you should also support public policy that benefits the working poor and keeps them off "welfare".

This is why you are a fucking idiot!

So you want more entitlements and NOT uplift people to higher paying jobs.

Oh now I get it, higher paying jobs require work...you want free

No you do not get it. There are people working 60 hours a week, meaning that they have both a full time and a part time job. Working very hard. And still it is not enough money coming in to provide for the necessities. Up to 70-80% of this $ going to housing and food. Supporting them by having the working poor pay a part of their health insurance but having me, and other tax payers, pick up some of it is good public policy. The alternative is when they get sick they will have no insurance and end up on welfare and 100% supported by me and other taxpayers. Understand?

The biggest cause of bankruptcy, representing 62% of all personal bankruptcies, is because of medical expenses due to not having or having insufficient medical insurance.
