Well, we were thinking of buying tickets and going this year, since we have two friends up for awards, but we'll be way up high in the back with the other industry cogs, and our friends will be down front sitting next to Ted Danson and Jerrry Seinfeld and the dog from "Frasier", and there's no way we'll get into the Governor's Ball, so, why the fuck should we spend hundreds of dollars to support pals we're never going to get to see anyway? So, instead, we plan to break into one of their homes and watch the show in their living room and call them on their cell phones just as they accept their awards.

Then we'll go through their underwear drawers. Woo-hoo.

Anyway, I'm excited. I've had friends who written on shows that won awards, and co-produced shows that have won awards, but never singled out for an award, and this year we know two, and it's very cool. They'd better win, cause I'm really bad at cheering people up.

And, yeah, you know one of them. The other guy is nearly as invisible as me, and I'm pretty sure his award will be one of those given out during the commercials, or something.

Anyway, does anyone watch this thing anymore? I understand the audience is getting smaller every year. Personally, I prefer the Tony's, especially the part of the show seen only on PBS.

I thought so.

We watch pretty much all the award shows, mostly to judge the outfits. Seriously.

We also compete to see who can guess the most winners. It's a blast.

Award Shows

I used to watch em all.........but not any more, except for the Lifetime Achievement Awards, I could care less. I guess I don't care if friends or family, as well as the rest of the world, likes something or not. I know what I like on TV (not a lot), so regardless of what awards a show wins, does nothing for me. I gotta admit tho......I love the written word, sooooooo, I usually flip back and forth trying to catch those awards.

Yes people watch. I used to watch them all, but now I usually only watch the Big 3- Oscars, Emmies and Golden Globes.

It's a great reason to get with my snotty friends and dish on the presenters, the winners, and the crappy dance numbers. ;)

I have friends who work in the industry and go every year. I watch it just to see if I can catch a portion of their foreheads on camera.

If I happen to run across them while I'm flipping through the channels, I'll watch the Emmys. But I don't plan the event with popcorn and spinach dip.

I do, however, eagerly await the Tony's and tape both the PBS and network channel's broadcasts of them.

Except that I hate it when they get Rosie to host them.

I wish your friends the very best.
