The Elf Princess

Ashton opened his mouth to say something, then closed his eyes. "You know, I'm not sure."

She laid her head upon his shoulder confused.

"What are we going to do, Ashton, I think I care for you but how can I know. And you do you know what you feel for me?

She sighed, relationships were so difficult.

Ashton smiled, looking at the expression on her face. "Relationships are confusing no matter who they are."

She looked at his face and thought he had a wonderful smile.

"What should we do then Ashton, I am so confused. What do we do about Father planning a wedding"

She was getting upset again and calmed herself.

Ashton thought for a moment, then smiled again. "Simple. We take charge of the idea."

Sebeen smiled and nodded her head.

"We will band together against my Father, it will be two to one. This is a good idea, Ashton"

Ashton grinned. "We'll have to talk to him, but first, we have to sabotage his plans."

She grinned and a twinkle came into her eyes.

"Yes, yes, how do we do that Ashton"

Sebeen was out of her element here and was relying on Ashton for the plan.

Ashton considered this. How could they sabotage the plans. Then he remembered what goes into a wedding. "We could ruin the cake recipe, the dress, and some other stuff."

She looked at him surprised.

"You mean, my Father has already started doing all these things. I thought he was just making plans, not moving on them, oh my goodness"

Ashton shrugged. "I don't know how far he's gotten, but it's safe to assume with an entire castle full of people to set it up, it won't take long."

Sebeen began to tremble as she thought of this.

"You know your right, did he say when he wanted the wedding to happen to you. I can't believe he is doing this without talking to me. We must hurry and come up with a plan because all of what you said can be fix like this"

She snapped her fingers.

"We have not only servants but the people themselves want to see me married because they want the white lighter"

She looked into his eye and saw confusion there now.

"Oh, that is right, you don't know, a child born to me will be a white lighter. I am destined to be the mother of a white lighter you see. Its been 100 years and every one hundred years a white lighter is born in my family. That is why I have the gift of healing because of who I am"

Ashton listened to her explanation, and thought carefully. He had an idea, but the execution was a little difficult. "We'd have to get the staff to try to postpone."

She thought for a moment and then smiled.

"I have some ladies that favor me over my Father. They run the kitchen, do the sewing and generally run the household. I think they would help me but how long do we need"

She looked at him and shook her head.

"I do not know Ashton, how long does it take to conduct a what did you call it, a courting"

Ashton blinked, then shrugged. "I guess it goes until the two people find that they either are a good match, or not."

She thought for a moment.

"Well that is how long we will have to delay it then. I need to talk with my ladies but first we must talk to Father. I really think I can face him now with you at my side"

Ashton nodded, then smiled. "This should be interesting. By the way, I haven't met your mother yet."

Sebeen's eyes filled with sadness.

"My Mother is dead, Ashton, she died when I was a little elf. Father told me then that I would never have to leave our home and get married. I guess he changed his min"

Ashton blinked, then looked down. He hadn't meant to make her upset. "I'm sorry, I didn't know. Of course, he might not want you to leave. He just might want grandkids."

She looked at him and smiled.

"It doesn't matter what the female wants in a marriage. If the male wants to leave, you must go with him as a dutiful wife"

Ashton grinned. "My people do things differently. It's about compromise."

Sebeen looked at him, compromise, a male actually doe not force his will on the female in his world. She was starting to think marriage to him would not be so bad. Comprimise and he listens to her and takes the time to explain something, and he is from the human world. Maybe he would take her to his world and she could see for herself how things work there.

"Well that is nice. I would like that. Is your home really far away from her?

Ashton thought for a moment. "I'm from a city called New York. It's a lot bigger than this one, but it's become full of people of many races. It's easy to get lost in, but it's got good security."
