The election is over, we see the contours of what lies ahead for the next four years.

...I would start somewhere else....:D

I might also. But it is at least an attempt at progress.

In a world where someone is named Chantel Sheaks, there are many imperfections.

I'd compare it to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" as a law. It's a first step that's full of ridiculous compromises where reality is not assessed and needs are not met. But it will set a precedent that can, through time, be refined and although it'll still not ever be good enough for anybody, it has the potential to get better if we're not >ALL< total idiots.

It didn't happen. You fell for another hoax.

Just like the hoax you *still* believe in where you claim Obama went on Meet the Press and proclaimed that he's a Muslim on national TV.

I don't think it was meet the press....

It was a conversation...one-on-one with George S. He didn't proclaim he was a Muslim....he was talking about "my muslim faith"....his words.

Yeah, right.

It worked reasonably well for a large number of people. Now, it will be the mother of fuckups for everybody and will work for nobody.

It will be a gigantic clusterfuck.

It worked reasonably well for fewer and fewer people every day.

There will be growing pains as the system transitions to something better, but doing nothing was a far darker path.

See? You believe a hoax. Even in the face of facts that disprove the hoax you still choose to believe it anyway. Bullshit is your religion.

I think there is always room to make improvements. I think that healthcare should be available for all legal citizens.

But....I think the welfare system should also be revamped. Yes, of course, there are truly people who need it. But, as with everything else, there is so much misuse. If people in this country (those who are truly able) had the integrity in themselves to work for themselves...then only those who truly could not would need the help from the majority who would have the means to help them.

That is not the case. Whether people like it or not....the people who can make a way for themselves are choosing not to, and the government is helping that along.

None of this is ever going to be resolved as those who are making their own way are going to get tired of taking care of those who are not. .....and those who do not have as much as others will always want more.

This is not a problem that government can fix. This has to do with attitudes of the people.

Yes, welfare needs to be fixed. I think we are idealistically a Democratic, Capitalist society who realizes that we lack a soul or a heart and lose any level of national pride if we do not adopt Socialist concepts of caring for those who need help. There's a problem with the national identity and soul if it's all about "I got mine, Jack, fuck off, I win, I have more and when I die I win." That isn't the poetry of the soul.

I'd love to see the prison system revamped, drugs legalized, prostitution legalized, tax silliness ended and I'd also like a unicorn.

So...that probably won't happen while I hold my breath. I work with what I have, not with what I want.

:D....does not matter what Obama says......everyone else is always wrong.

You do know that he was brought up with muslim teachings as well as christian...right? No reason he would not have both faiths as he was taught both.

No you're wrong because you're being deceitful. Deceit is wrong and not very Christian of you.

...and my "want" list is quite different. That is where this nation is. There is half that wants more of what you would like....and half that does not. So, as the insurance is an example......when forced to pay more....those who have a different view point will not like it. We will be forced, mandated, and taxes to death to make sure it happens.......but the divide will only grow deeper in the process.

You just don't want to pay for it.

You are correct. They are not legal......they should not get it.

If living in the US is their true desire....then there are procedures to do that....and at that point, they are more than welcome to live here AND have health insurance.

You know how your premiums have been going up for 20 years prior to Obamacare? That's largely because people weren't insured and were getting "free" care at clinics that was passed on in the form of higher cost to you.

You realize that right? That the cost has been socialized onto your premium the whole time? Only now it's going to be done in a more organized and cost-efficient manner.

You are so funny. I saw that show and it did not surprise me that he said that.

Do I think he has just as much love for the muslim faith as christian? Yes. Do think his being raised in the muslim faith had an impact on him? Yes. Do I think him sitting under Rev. Wright and listening to the hate he spewed had and impact on him? Yes.

I am free to see these things...just as you are....and have an opinion about them.

It does not matter. He is potus. He will do as he wishes and we will have to learn to live with it....the best we can.

You don't want to pay for it for legals either.

And you pay for health care for illegals anyway. Medical professionals are ethical (unlike you), and care for those in need regardless as to their financial means. If the illegal cannot pay then the hospital has to raise its rates for the payers and you get charged more.

I don't think Obama is particularly religious at all. The dude goes to church on Christmas and Easter and that's about it.

I agree they have gone up. I agree it was because of all the "free" things. (also please include the illegals here..... ).

I truly believe that no one has any idea of the true impact of the this new "tax" know as healthcare. I think both sides of this issue will have much to learn.

Why do you think I am unethical?

They will be "forced" to pay more and they will also be able to honestly take part in an insurance system that is headed toward reform and working better for others as well as for themselves.

In a world full of real tragedies...that's not really the thing I'd pick to be outraged about.

I don't think "not liking it" is really a good enough excuse to check out of the entire system and decide that it's always going to suck. Give it a chance to work first.

Why do you think I am unethical?

You believe that if an undocumented monther brings in her 8 year-old daughter to an emergency room in excruciating pain with vaginal and anal lacerations after a rape, that the girl should not be helped. And this is why you're an unethical person. You're focus on indivudualism has led you to be self-centered and detached.

Or are you going to change your position?
