President Obama has rescinded a proposal to allow new oil and natural gas drilling in the Arctic Ocean as part of a five-year plan for leasing released on Friday.

Obama’s move takes drilling rights sales off the table through 2022.

The Interior Department had previously proposed limited drilling rights sales to the Beaufort and Chukchi seas north of Alaska, where there has never been oil and natural gas production from traditional mobile drilling rigs.

But officials, citing environmental concerns and low industry interest, rescinded that proposal on Friday in releasing the new plan.
The decision all but bans Arctic drilling for that time period, since oil companies have let almost all of their leases in the Arctic expire or have surrendered them.

A few years back I read that Nevada, a leading gold-producing state, may be producing more all the time. I don't remember the specifics, but the theory was that what was happening underground was creating gold.

I don't see alchemy happening. Gold probably is continually being deposited places in cooling flows of magma.

Oil is a renewable resource. It is just decayed carbon life-forms. the question is how quickly does that process occur and how much decayed stuff does it take. I don't think we'll have more oil by next week.

Your own link says the oil has been sitting there "known" for years. THE DONALD didn't do shit. And, as the article also says, neither he nor anyone else is going to do much about getting it out as long as oil is selling below $60 a barrel.

If Trump opens up oil production in the Arctic or anywhere else where Obama dragged his feet, then President Trump will deserve full credit for doing so. He just doesn't deserve any credit YET, and certainly none related to an oil shale deposit that has been known about for years and is too expensive to put in production for the foreseeable future.
