Living in Scandinavia, the length of the days is a vital yardstick throughout the year.
Living at just above 55*N, the difference between the shortest day of the year and the longest is almost 9 hours.
Since December 21, the day has grown by 1 hour 23 minutes.
Spring is on the way. It isn't even dark when I go home from work!
Even though the weather here is about the same as Seattle, the long dark days are frustrating. But those three little extra minutes of daylight each day are a fantastic motivation.
Makes me look forward to summer when there is only 3-4 hours of darkness and you drink beer on the beach in the light of the sunset at 10:30 in the evening.
