Ahhh, Killer, I have a tape with Danny Kaye's first broadcast of the Danny Kaye show. That man had the greatest tongue the goddess has ever given a man.
Ever here his Fifty-Five Russian Composers in One minute?

No I haven't... why do I have a feeling that I am majorly missing out here?

just to get this off that dumb bobtoad thread

Who is Danny Kaye?
Great Hera!
He was a comedian. He performed on radio, Broadway and in some of the first color pictures.

HERESY!!!!! Nekkie, ever seen White Christmas?

Danny Kaye was one of the greatest entertainers to come out of the twentieth century.

OH so Danny Kaye is the funny looking guy in White Christmas. I love that movie by the way maybe ill go watch it i have it on video.

My H and I are discovering many unexpected delights as we age. We're as surprised as anyone, to find how much is better, especially sex. It's true, youth is wasted on the young.

It's fun to know about things our kids (and many of our delightful literotica board companions) have missed. Danny Kaye is a great example, Never. I missed the recent PBS special with the Boston Pops and Nathan Lane doing Danny Kaye, but it must have been wonderful. Had our vcr filled with another kind of tape that night--ummmmm. Maybe they'll rerun the PBS show.

We are startled sometimes to realize that we're talking about people or events unknown to the younger set. Silly things, like when I was once at the pool and mentioned I had always wanted to be Esther Williams. A young woman looked puzzled and, of course, asked "Who?" Oh well.

Who is Danny Kaye !!!!!!!
Ever hear ?

There once was an ugly duckling.
Whose feathers were shabby and brown.
And the other birds.
Said in so many words.
Aaargh, get out of town.

Danny Kaye did make a number of good movies. The best one to see who he was is The Inspector General (if for nothing else, Soliloquy for Three Heads).

He seemed to have a unique ability to mimic whatever he heard. He had a gift for accents and also was self-taught as a conductor.

He was also the inspiration for Bing Crosby to sing "Can't help lovin dat man". But that is another story.

NO Maddoggie....

:p

Just such a HOOT to see a thread about Danny Kaye. For some reason, I love to watch the old musicals they show on TV and Kaye has been good in every role I've seen him play. Very talented man. Old musicals to Arnold Schwarzenneger films; just like with music and sex: I do so love a variety.
I mainly responded to this thread *only my second time doing this* coz I just LOVE KillerMuffin's nickname!!!*kisses and hugs*

First off I'll say: SIIIIIIREEEEEN!

Secondly, how old do you think I am TPlover? How young is the younger set to you?

Thirdly: SIIIIIIIIRRRRREEEENNN!

NEEEVEEEEER!!!!!

:p

Danny Boy wasn't stingy - Sir Laurence was his best known and longest buddy but he had others. I always wondered if Danny used a Scarlett O'Hara accent to woo him.:) I came across the Der Bingle thing once in my old DJ days when the station received a record of old Man-to-Man love songs that contained the Crosby number. The liner notes supplied with the disc had the Danny Kaye reference.

Regardless, his humor is immune to generation gap nonsense. Anybody can appreciate that guy.

Gosh, never, I didn't mean to insult you. I just got such a kick out of all the "Who is Danny Kaye" questions I may have exceeded common sense. I've been known to do that. This has been a fun thread, and I'm really glad for it.

Regarding age, we've heard all our lives that age is in our heads. I've noticed we hear it more often as we get older. <g> H and I are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary this weekend, so I suppose the years are very much on my mind. We don't feel old, and we certainly don't think or act old. "Old" people don't write sexual fantasy stories, do they?

H said the sweetest thing to me the other night--hanging over his desk, he keeps a portrait of me done when I was about 25. I told him I feel like that woman, and am shocked when I look in the mirror and see that I am not. He told me that I'm still that woman in every way that counts. Ummmm, how fast do you suppose that got me into his bed?

Whatever your age, never, I hope your youth lasts at least as long as ours!

"I am Jockamo! King of Jesters, and Jester to the King!"

Holy Shit you got it right DCL !!!

:p

Danny Kaye was in White Christmas? Thought it was Bing Crosby.

They were both in "White Christmas". Kaye got the part after Donald O'Connor had to be replaced (I think it may have been his drinking problem that cost him the movie).

The movie where he's always daydreaming was "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty" which was based on a James Thurber short story and first dramatized on Broadway as part of "A Thurber Carnival".

(Yes, I have that much useless information in my head.)

I have access to several old Danny Kaye clothes, hats, costumes and shoes (never mind how -- I just do) and I sometimes wear a gold jacket used on his TV show when I do my magic act.

nods at DCL

Not useless info at all, DCL.....entertaining and educational as far as I'm concerned. But, then again, I tend to hum the theme song from Gilligan's Island all the time *smile*
