They worked on him hard. Body, soul, heart and mind. People talked about strategy for the night, they tried to help him with a cover, a mask, some acting job to be able to get his foot in the door.
All he could do was brood, fester with those words Marissa had told him about Serena. Raped, deformed, dead, slave. All those words bounced back and forth in his mind, refusing to accept anything else inside there.
His hair color changed, he didn't care. Small pieces of latex were attached to his face, broadening his nose, and aging him ten or so years, and when he looked in the mirror it was a funny version fo his father, but again, the humor and even the acknowledgement of the situation left him a long time ago.
All he had left was Serena. He had to help her, had to get her back.
"Do you understand me?" He looked up at a man who held a sheet of papers. David eyed him, remembering some of the words he spoke, but nothing registered. When he tried to think of the words the man said, all he could see was her hand, hurt, bloody stump, deformed, unable to do anything.
"Yes!" David gritted under his teeth, before he got off the chair.
"Just forget it ok, let's go." He wouldn't let them touch him anymore, he was ready. All he needed was to get in the door, after that... it would all be over.
