Getting those inner forms out 's gonna be a bitch.

Looks familiar. I only went to Skagway a few times but that bridge was pretty cool. I read where they're not going to remove it so that's nice for the cyclists.

The future is right here. It is a slow and expensive process but eliminates the age old machining problem of feature interference. Build a portion, machine it, and repeat. One set up allows tight tolerances on parts. Cool stuff.

Very cool. The plastic printers get cheaper every year. It is a great way to introduce youngsters to design and engineering.

Call me old fashion, but the snot-noses should still know how to draft up some sketches with a pencil.

The additive manufactured materials have much different mechanical properties compared to traditional metals and plastics. The biggest issues we see are with shear. The orientation of the build is so important when strength is required. Tapped holes often fail when any real torque is applied. Delamination along the build path.

Me? Send the STEP file to the machinist and cut the part old skool.
