The Construction Thread

I wonder how much they get for one pick like that.

Passed this on the side of they alcan hwy a few kms north of Ft. Nelson in 08. Stopped and bullshitted with some roughnecks leaning against the gate to the field. 50,000 USD an hour for a lift. They snagged it on its way to do some work in the arctic. The oil patch's got deep pockets.

And not a great a pic but it dwarfs the fuel truck.

That be it. Apparently the crew was Russian and needed a translator as none of them spoke english. Not even the captain. Dunno if the roughnecks were messin' with me but it didn't feel like a "fuck with the tourist" moment.

Must have been a pretty awesome sight watching it lift some massive plumbing nightmare into place. Unfortunately I had miles to go and promises to keep at the time.

I see those birds in Nome from time to time.

Damn you don't realize how big that whirlybird is until you see the truck next to it.

"They didn't account for the weight of the captain's balls"

A friend had these guys sling in the materials for his remote cabin. The price was competitive with sno-go hauling and accomplished all in one day.
