The Construction Thread

uh oh...someone mentioned getting electricity from a source other than unfiltered max pollution coal/oil......that sends trysail into fits. QUICK! Someone pour some used motor oil into a marine preserve or slash and burn some ancient forest before he comes totally unglued!

That's fucking bullshit and you know it.

It is, but it made me laugh so I did it anyway.

Ah. Now I see where you were going.

You're suggesting that they're lining their own pockets.

In a way.

They line the pockets of their friends in the green energy world sector.

Who will in turn I'm sure support their re-elections.

Total rich/powerful people circle jerk sponsored by Taypayer lube.

meanwhile , back in the world of real construction, spent all day "sawz alling" galvanized grating so that 638 could land a big unit on the roof of a building. "sawz alling" grating sucks, but at least it was in the sun---I've been on graveyard shift in midtown Manhattan for weeks and I'm about to turn into a vampire.

My hands will not put up with a day of that bullshit any longer.

In my latitude, sawzalling grating out of the sun is the cool gig.

I assume sparks weren't an option or it would be a cut-of wheel on a chainsaw body.

My company couldn't even come up with a functioning sawzall. it had one prong on the plug and we had to go begging to the GC's laborers. waterjet lol.

You people don't know how nice you have it. It's like a dungeon here in big building renovation ironworking.

amazing little machines for the abuse they take. the tempering of the blades is a metallugical feat, and we just use em and throw them out.

There is a perfect mix of brand, speed and teeth. An amazing tool except for the vibration sent back into your hands and teeth.

We've got a few of those metal cutting circular saws. You can even cut 3" XH pipe with 'em. They are a little nicer than a sawzall for some work.

The brushes burn easily. You have to let the tool do the work. Force it and bad things happen.

And I have one with a bad worm gear that will soon be sent out to pasture.

I hate to toss out a work horse.

The Jancy steel saws are nice, but they ain't a Timex. We go through a few a year. It's hard to pitch 'em, but they cost too much to repair.

If ironworkers could operate measuring tapes and pencils you could cut it someplace where sparks are allowed
