we have a few cook books...about a dozen. Mainly Mary Berry, Nigella and Delia
My main dish is a paella I prepare from scratch...takes about an hour and a half - delicious!
I also scramble a mean egg!![]()
I think I need more vegetable based suggestion, cause I need to find ways of enjoying those more. I have recently learned about heating up balsamic vinegar to make a glaze. That along with 1 date and slivered almonds has made me enjoy brussel sprouts for the first time ever. So I guess learning to make tasty vegetables is higher on my list of wants. Those kinds of recipes would be leftovers in the fridge for the next day types. Freezer meals would be more like the soups that I can get many servings from, but don't necessarily want to eat 5 days in a row. I like the idea of being able to just grab a bottle from the freezer when putting together my lunch for work the night before.
I'm with Tom, not much of one for cooking. I wish I enjoyed it more, people who do make it look so easy!
How do you deal with the hours?
One of my brothers is a trained chef, but after about 15 years he gave it up because he basically had no social life. His was a small hotel in a small village though, so it wasn't like he had loads of colleagues with the same hours to hang with, or places that opened late
It can be quite enjoyable, fortunately I got out of restaurants and hotels around 15-20 years ago and now spend my time developing new products in the food manufacturing industry which is even more challenging because your products have to satisfy the masses and products have to last for more than the 5 minutes from kitchen to table..
Oh, that sounds really interesting! Is there anything you've developed I would know about?
I agree with the whole online recipe thing, so long as you can remember where you found the recipe next time you are looking
I have books like that where I just have to buy it, the one I shared above is exactly that
Oh, they look yummy. The French beans got my attention right away. Thank you
I organize my online recipes on Pinterest and have private boards there for what I plan to cook or want to keep easily on hand to cook again. Makes it super easy.
So many I haven't counted! Can one ever have too many?
For Christmas I received Paul Hollywood's Bread Cookbook. Looking forward to digging into it.
So you guys I thought I would post a few pics of my dinner I wrote about it was sooo yummy and easy I can really say if you like something like that you should try it...lol

Looking so good, where was my dinner invite?

Lunch today was a roasted veggie quesadilla...mushroom, onion, bell peppers. So delicious. The last couple weeks I’ve had a lot of difficulty with meat so back to vegetarian/vegan eating 80% of the time!
Hello. Nice thread idea and nice to meet you Hotchef.
I have several cook books but rarely use them.
We had goose for New Years Eve dinner this year.
It was delicious!!!
I’ve been quite overwhelmed so far by the number of people who have responded to this thread, when I started it a couple of days ago I was really unsure and thought it would “die on its arse” as we would say over here.
Thank you all so far for your contributions and kind comments, I promise to add another subject later and post some more pictures - I have a lamb roast going in the oven later today.
I thought I’d leave you with a snapshot just to prove I really do have that many food related books on my shelves, and this isn’t all of them https://imgur.com/a/OrrEFjm

Wow... that is one hell of a bookshelf!!![]()
