Happy st Patrick's day! Any one else going out to rase a pint to the patron saint of Ireland?
Putting the corned beef and cabbage in the slow cooker later with potatos and carrots, serving it with warm soda bread and irish butter!

Will also raise a glass to my fourth great grandparents the Blanie's who escaped the potato famine, and made a life in the new world...

Hi all well we finally have the first day of spring, but of course its cold and the east coast (of the US) is geting hit again with a snow storm.

If any one wants to join me I will be down in the garden celebrating the spring equinox,
I may or may not do a little dance in the nude! depends on the temperature!

Here in the midwest still cold and no signs of spring, weeks yet before the flowers or forsythia blooms.

But we are in the home stretch and its getting closer to the warmth, I'm starting to get the garden planned and ready, any tips would be helpfull.
What should I plant? What's your fav vegetable to grow? Trying grow bags this year for the first time hope it works!

I know a bit...it's the 75th anniversary this summer.

I know a bit...it's the 75th anniversary this summer. Also known as "Operation Jubilee." The vast majority of troops involved were Canadian, although British (mostly Scottish if I remember correctly) and American troops also fought, and less than half of the men returned after the battle.


(On a side note, was wondering if you'd be interested in talking a bit about Vimy Ridge next? We're coming up on the anniversary soon.)

Vimy I will discuss on the anniversary, and will discuss it at length. I am prepping the Dieppe lecture now.
