They are not the Good Guys. They are not the Good Women.
Lately, the Bad Guys and the Bad Women are making noises, that amount to them claiming to be the Good Guys. It turns out, that they are shills for The Even Worse than the Bad Guys.
ALEC was co-founded by conservative activist Paul Weyrich.

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) has responded to an investigation by Atlanta's 11Alive News Tonight, which exposed millions of viewers to the influence of ALEC's corporate members over the Georgia Legislature.

A.L.E.C. moves on to other victims, using a double aid sword
In kind, caring, and concerned hands the sword protects those that need assistance. In cruel, heartless, and uncaring hands, it has the power to harm.

Since its distribution in the ALEC committee room, along with a U.S. map designed by the National Restaurant Association, versions of the sick leave policy have been adopted in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Cities in those states no longer have the right to decide whether the people who work there ought to receive a guarantee of sick time with pay.
