The Authors' Hangout 2010 Halloween Contest Support Thread

Since there is no such thing as the ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS (A.I.R.) or Scouriesworld associated with or from Lit, except in scouries head, it can't sanction anything but Scouries usual hot air.

Since scouries and company can't win a REAL LIT contest, he makes up his own list of winners by using stories he steals from the REAL LIT contest without the authors permission. Then he messes with the numbers until he and his cohorts win something or the other.

Just more of Scouries phony bullshit.

Harrumph. Realized my story is vampire and set in October but not a whole lot of Halloween, but I think I know how to fix it. I had planned to have her walk home so I think it's Halloween night and she is going to have some surreal moments with people in costumes. Between work, the baby and the wedding, writing is going very slowly but I'm still plugging away.

Ready to post.

Hi,

I hope everyone's writing is coming along smoothly and that the muses are inspiring. My two are finished, edited, and ready to post as entries! :)

Do you have to wait until the 1st to post? I saw on the rules that it said: "or a little before." What do most people do?

Also, if you upload your story, will it automatically retain italicized words? Normally, I just copy/paste it, so I wasn't sure. Thanks! Goodluck!

(I'm slowly going to work on proofing and editing these stories. Most have been up there for several years. I never knew I could edit them, until Darkinciad enlightened me. :))

I think just being about a vampire is enough, if he or she is an old fashioned kind, like Dracula. One of the more modern ones, where they are just ordinary people with that one quirk might not do it.

Hey Luna!

to answer your questions:
First, as long as you have the correct info in the comments box I believe you can submit a contest story almost a week ahead and it will stay pending with the contest start date for a date and post on that date.
Second, stories will not retain italics - in fact it will come up as rejected. You can put the coding in the work so it will come out as italics but I hear that's tricky. It is easier to download but will take a bit longer to post. Coincidentally, it was Darkincaid who enlightened me about this!

Good luck!

! October is tomorrow!! I'm not ready! lol.
I'd like t o submit as close to the beginning as possible..
Oh bother. Why did I think 3 stories was a good idea?? lol.
I'm gonna re-evaluate this project. :D :p

Is everyone ready!?!?! :D
Go team, go! :)

Contest starts tomorrow but you have until Oct. 22 to enter any stories. Voting on the stories goes for another week afterwards. Most votes come in the first two days. After that they kind of dribble in. You don't have to submit them all at once. In fact I suggest you wait a few days to submit a second story. I have one submitted and will submit the second in a few days. It's ready to go. Started a third one but not in a writing mood. I'll have to wait and see on it.

Best of luck to you.

Ok. So I finished mine, spellchecked it and now I'm re-writing it..should have it sent off to my editor tomorrow and then if it's not too bad, I hope to have it submitted to lit by Monday! I'm excited.

Just submitted my little gem, it certainly ain't long, but that doesn't always have to be the case.
What matters to me is I enjoyed writing it. Even considering making a few more with these characters after the contest is over.

Yeah, it's more like the latter. Started out going for erotic horror but that's really not my forte so it turned itself into a romance, kinda. Thanks for the input. Got a ways to go but i'm still plugging away.

just wish they had a few little dwarfs helping them process the stories faster!
read those that are up so far. liked most of them ;-)

~Pumpkin Pie Passion~ and ~Enlightened By Darkness~ are up!

That didn't take too long!

My 2 Halloween Contest entries are UP and ready to be READ, COMMENTED, and VOTED on. :)

~Pumpkin Pie Passion~:

A Halloween/Samhain Tale: Where winds howl, spirits walk, the old ways are revered, heritage is realized,
love transcends time, and pumpkin pie never tasted so absolutely sinful!

and

~Enlightened By Darkness~:

One is lost in darkness and imprisoned by adversity and the mind. The other is a creature of darkness, bound by a curse.
Both reaching for Light. Can they rise above and find liberation together?

Enjoy! Thanks! Goodluck!
