I must admit to being pleasantly surprised when I clicked open my figures for my contest story this morning. Very surprised in fact! I’d been afraid that having the lead character suck his own penis might not resonate with my readers.

I was expecting a much lower vote total (it’s a 4 page story) and a much lower score – somewhere in the 3.5-4.0 range.

And yet ended up with triple the votes I’d expected and a very respectable score.

And that they were then, as a group, able to manipulate the results in their favor. We believe it’s a clear case of cheating.

So, it's a lot of hoof work, but anyone can see vote totals and story ratings without the need to be staff. Who voted and what they voted is hidden, but everyone on this site has a very simple choice. Trust that the contest is fair and enter, or don't enter at all. Honestly, on the sites I admin, we'd have kicked Scouries off a LONG time ago as a site disruption. I'd say the staff here is more than fair and tolerant. Way more than I would be, anyway.

The Sweeps

I'm here, away from the official support thread, to shed some light upon these so-called sweeps that occur during the contests.

I continue to vote on stories written by my favorite author, Freddie. And, yet, I don't know why I go through the effort. All of my votes get removed by the so-called sweeps. What's one vote among the 500 to 1,000 votes cast for his stories? Why would someone on the staff go to all of the effort of finding my one lousy vote and remove it, time after time, and story after story? Am I a threat to the calculation of announcing the real winner? I gotta say, "It pisses me off!" I'm discouraged that my vote doesn't count here. I wonder how many other votes get erased because someone on the staff thinks they know who's who when they really don't.

It's just amazing how they have the balls to announce the real winner and still feel confident they have picked the real one. And, yet, I will still continue to write...and continue to vote for my favorite author. Did I say it was Freddie? Not sure anyone realized that.

"Staff" hardly ever post on this forum. Once in a while Laurel will post a complaint, usually to Scouries, and sometimes Manu will tell us of some innovation, but that's about it. This forum doesn't have a moderator except for that. Free speech is pretty much allowed to run wild. That's not a bad thing, except sometimes newcomers take Scouries seriously, so some of the rest of us tell them not to.

I've often wonder why they keep him around, but came to the conclusion he's good for traffic. People keep coming to his threads and there are a few people(whom he has not done anything to) who think he's funny.
